First SIG556 Rifles
Scheduled to Ship
The long wait is almost over. The first SIG556 Rifles are scheduled to ship this week. The engineers, machinists, QC department and assemblers have all been working to complete for shipment the industry's most anticipated rifle.
Untold thousands of rounds have been shot in testing these rifles and all who have shot them agree - this is one awesome rifle. One trigger housing alone had over 43,000 rounds put through it in the 'white' which means without hard-coat anodizing. A recent production rifle was tested to 15,000 rounds without a failure. We've tested a variety of ammo and a wide range of magazines all in an effort to make sure the rifle you get runs like a House O'Fire.
The Swiss-designed gas operating system in the SIG556 was designed to handle a range of military ammo. The 2-position adjustable gas valve allows the shooter to compensate for the excessive build up caused by dirty ammo and resulting from sustained shooting.
The forend of the SIG556 features a Tri-Rail system for attaching lights and accessories. There is a integral rail on both sides and the bottom of the forend. The steel receiver also features a flush mounted Picatinny rail.
The SWAT model with a quad-rail will be available in 2007. You will also be able to purchase the old style Swiss ArmsĀ® forend which will easily fit the SIG556.
