I was expecting my permit to take a lot longer than 30 days to come in, but I am glad it only took a month.

I let my permit lapse in January and I need to make it back down to Castle Rock to renew. How was the process at the courthouse? It's been 5 years since I dealt with mine and I'm curious if it's more difficult now.

They were nice - accepted application - took photo - and I was out in about 20 min.
Once you pass through security, the window is off to the right beyond a set of double doors.

Bob is a wonderfully nice man. Be good to him and he will be great to you.
I got mine about a week, maybe a week and a half after I applied for mine. Same experience, nice people, easy going, quick in and out.
The Douglas County Sheriff's office is generally great, the day Weaver leaves office, it will be better. Hopefully we will get an NFA friendly Sheriff.
Just did my renewal recently. Other than losing a crappy little pocketknife to the metal detector, it was smooth sailing. Bob says the new permits are a lot different than the one I have now. Same size as a D/L, doesn't have your address or employer on them now, better lamination, and it says Concealed Handgun Permit, instead of Concealed Weapon Permit.
He said some guy got in a barfight in Pueblo with a switchblade and was arrested for carrying the knife, but he protested because he had a "Concealed Weapon Permit", and apparently the court sided with him because of the vague wording on the permit. The one in my wallet right now doesn't say a damn thing about guns, only "weapon". So they've been changed to specify handgun.
My original permit took exactly 3 weeks to the day, my new one should be here any day now......

Glad to hear, now to just find some time to make it over there...

Bob is a nice guy! Ask him about his new knee while you're there. They don't get in a big hurry there, but they're good to ya.

So I was in and out in about 30-45 min. Not bad wait time, Bob is a good guy and even told be about his knee. This was before you even said anything about it, so he must tell everyone.....lol
He said wait time is about 4-5 weeks! Saweet!
When you go back, just see the deputy on duty at the outside window just past the scanner.
