View Full Version : Allocation of parental rights and responsibilities question
Does anyone know if without a final divorce, but have Allocation of Parental Rights and Responsibilities. Can I get child support? Also I am going to ask my caseworker if I should be getting some for the girls since they are not mine.

I'm not a lawyer, but for someone I know it took the "final orders" from the court to establish anything in regard to child support. And her divorce took almost 6 months.

I believe you can have a judge set up a temporary ruling that will allot you a certain amount of money in child support until the divorce settlement/child support is finalized.
My situation is a little different. My wife was removed from the home by DHS. EPO in place. Divorce not filed yet, but I have custody of the kids. Two of which are not mine biologically.

... then I have absolutely nothing useful to tell you.
Hopefully someone comes along who does.

You really need an attorney in this situation, Sparky. That's the bottom line. Do it yourself divorce work is very problematic.

You can have a caseworker work out child support before the divorce is final and have that part taken care of, and done. Been there, done that it's called temporary orders. Now, seeing how they are not your kids (or some of them)... If they are not yours by adoption, I think that is a whole new mess.
