View Full Version : May 2012 Classifier
So how did everyone do?
Even though I felt like I shot crappy, I still did noticeably better than last year. I actually was able to classify for Marksman instead of Novice. That was a nice treat.
Nice hanging out with everyone all at once by the way.

Results are out on the website, in record time. Thanks, Mick!

Thanks for such fast scoring for this very well run Classifier. I was in the noob bay and had an excellent first match experience. Weather was pretty good, all things considered. Top 10 finish, overall. Got a sunburn.
Which was the noob bay? What number?

Bay 4 had all the first-time FRIDPA shooters. A few experienced shooters also started with us, and I think the overall champ arrived with his entourage for Stage 3.

I guess that makes me his Marksman squire/jester.

Hoping to squad (11) with you guys in Montrose and learn a thing or two.
Weren't Warren and crew shooting in Bay 4? I shot with Quinn and Robert and Quinn had his Glock Kaboom in his hand in the beginning of Stage 3.
Phil, did we score within a second of each other?

Pulled off bay three and moved to bay four for stage three.
I have indirect reports that it wasn't actually Quinn's gun that ate a doublecharge - he was just examining it.
Y'know, somehow, "crew" sounds more dignified than "entourage".
Good job, btw. >25 seconds improvement year-over-year is very good.
How was the weather in Dumont yesterday? I thought about going but the weather over Brighton looked gloomy. I didn't want to drive up to Dumont and find out that the Classifier had been canceled.

I heard rumblings of a KB and hope everyone is OK. Maybe "bunch o' badasses" would have been a better way to describe the crew. Much respect.

Thank you, I'm pretty happy with that improvement.
Robert and I were both standing there when the KB happened. Unless we're thinking of a different guy. Oh yeah, think he'll be frustrated that you came in one spot faster than he did? I giggled when I saw that.
That guy Crash Lowe I was talking about did pretty well too.

If he ever ends up on my squad again, it'll be "Team Llama"
Nice to see we have consistent groups of members shooting together. Ought to start side bets/league type shooting.

I have finally shot a classifier and I am no longer without class. ;)
I have been enjoying reading the comments about Saturday's Classifier. The weather was good and it was a great day for shooting. I shot in bay 3.
Maybe I will meet some of the AR-15 forum members at a match someday.
It sounds like some of you will be at the state match this June. I am signed up in squad 10.
Regards, Dean
I'm not sure that Quinn had any damage vs. just blowing the mag out. He was asking for ammo, but I don't know if he reshot the stage or not, or borrowed a gun, too.

All right, we'll actively intervene next time there's a rollcall: "HIII WOODCHUCK!!"
There were at least 3 of us on your berm, though we tend to get tied up "encouraging" each other.
We might also have been intimidated by your 1911 (CDP, yes?)
Maybe we need co-ar patches.

Mick: Any other announcements?
DOES ANYONE HERE GO BY THE ALIAS WOODCHUCK?!

Ok, it was my gun that went KABOOM. Stock Glock 34. Quinn did help me inspect it. Thanks to him! Double charged load, loud as hell, kicked like hell, hurt like hell, hands had black all over them. But, I'm fine, gun is fine. Borrowed some new ammo from Aaron (Thanks!) and finished the match with the same gun. :)
Hi Pete.
Now I'm really confused about who this mysterious Quinn is.
He was the guy with 2 extra loud rounds and then a magazine at his feet. :)
I think the weapon ended up being ok otherwise, as he seems to have classified Expert.

Quinn's gun did not explode, he was inspecting it after it happened. Did you not read the post above Irving's?
My post clearly indicates I don't think it exploded. During Quinn's 3rd stage run from either side of the barricade, I was turned around talking to Irving IIRC, and there were 2 extra loud bangs - I turned around wondering what was being shot and whether my ears had turned off or something, and then saw him looking down at the ground where his magazine went. After that he was asking if anyone had any extra ammo because he wasn't confident of the loads in the box he had. (Commercial box, at least. Not sure of the type.)
Obviously there were multiple incidents.
The that happened to just posted, and he is not Quinn, so Quinn must be one of the other range officers.
