Yeah I like them, they are pretty handy when shooting prone and at a distance

A little pricey for the real ones so I bought a clone that works well [Beer]

Theirs a used for sale on here now. I have one of the real ones and use it sometimes. I like them for shooting prone and siting in but they are a little heavy to use as a forward grip all the time. But they are easy on/off so its ok. I would pay used price but wouldnt pay new price unleas your shooting prone all the time.

They gave them to us, tried it once and never again. not height adjustable they don't really cant, and the grip is rather large.

Well it's not a bipod and is not meant to accomplish what a precision bipod accomplishes. It's a VFG that offers superior stabilization and superior performance when shooting at a distance.

I'm pretty sure Jordan knows what they are and what they are used for

I agree, i used one with the intention of it replacing a bipod and it is not meant for precision shooting. great for an AR that you just want to be able to plop down for some more stability, but didn't work very well for long range stuff with my EBR.

over all, good for a couple of things, but not great at anything : /

I like mine. It is kinda heavy, so I just take it off if I'm shooting standing for longer periods. The height is just right to use it with 30rd mags.

I have a clone of these if anyone's interested. Lightly used. Shoot me a PM if you want it. I moved over to an AFG2 so it's just been sitting on my shelf for 4-5 months.

I think I'll just drag my AR in to Bower's and see what they have that'll work. I'd probably have to change my hand guards anyway, but I know they can put a Harris bipod on what I have already. Maybe they have a VFG that'll fit too. And mount the sling I bought from somebody here. I don't really want to change the handguards if possible.

Its a crappy bipod , to big as a vertical grip , and offers no advantage over just monopoding off of the magazine . Gimmick that does none of the things it is suppose to well .

Prices are dropping. Military version "Stainless Legs" can be found on ebay now for $60 or so shipped. Yes the real ones.

Not the worst grip I've ever had, did both jobs, but i did get rid of it when i started trying to use it for long range precision stuff :/

Agreed, not to stable for precision work, but its excellent quality and serves double duty fairley well considering what it is.

There are better mousetraps out there that weigh less and do certain jobs better, but if you arent lugging your rifle around then a grip pod isnt the worst thing in the world. We were issued them back in 07-08 and were required to keep them on our rifles. As soon as we were allowed to take them off, many switched them out with the KAC VG that was issued, and eventually most of us have now transitioned to bare rails. The Grip Pod was havy but made extended time in prone or resting your rifle on barriers a little easier. I wouldnt buy one or use one now with my experience, YMMV.

Not in my experience , or anybody that I shoot with . Monopoding off of the magazine is pretty much SOP for every 3 gun shooter . Also both Kyle Lamb and Larry Vickers teach monopoding .

I've been using the magwell for years and never had a malfunction. Provides great control but not exactly good for precision shooting.

That's very cool and innovative! Just what you'd expect from Magpul. But for me and my fat-old-man-shooting-off-a-bench style, a good Harris bipod is what I need. I'm faaaar past being able to do that run-and-gun stuff, and dropping to the ground? Ain't gonna happen for me. Nice to see that product available for the guys that DO do that kind of stuff.

LOL. The "MagPod" is made for the PMAG, but not made by Magpul. Fugly too, compared to Magpul Ranger Plates that look like they could serve the same function, as well as the intended function!

Those vert grip bipods are junk, lasted one day in an FTX, broke one of the legs, was issued a new one, so I gave it another try... When I realized that with a plate carrier on in the probe position the legs are not high enough to be useable. So I threw it away! Pricey POS. run a real bi-pod I that's what you need.

I agree with Jordan. They issued them to us before we left for Iraq and they broke within days. Pretty worthless in my opinion.

They work great from the bench. Now we just need to find a way to get the Talibads to line up down range!

Saw a bunch of people using em in Afghanistan. All the people that had em were POGs, and all they used em for was to keep the rifle standing up when they sat their fat asses down in the MWR or DFAC.
Nobody in my plattoon has one.

The gentleman who invented the Grip Pod was a patron of the gun shop I worked at in Florida. He brought in the prototype early on in development, and asked us all what we thought of it. I told him I thought it was too long and heavy as a grip, and too unstable as a bipod. When he left, I told all my shop buddies that I thought it was a stupid idea that would never, ever catch on. One year later, he had a government contract.

Never liked em or use them downrange. Same experience, pogs used them to prop their rifles up on the fob. I always thought they were for use on the SAW.

They suck, suck balls as a matter of fact. If they were made out of steel they still probably would suck. Mag pod/ Ranger plate for the win!
