View Full Version : Will Picasa work
For photo sharing? My photobucket account went over limit.
I use imgur.com
Don't need to register, but if you do, you can create galleries, move and delete your photos.
No editing or resizing tools, though...

+1 for imgur.com
I really like Picasa for a few reasons. The primary one is probably the fact that I can easily and instantly upload pics from my phone to Picasa with a single click. On top of that each of my Picasa folders shows up in my photo Gallery on my phone w/o any additional efforts. It's very handy for uploading tons of pictures and folders to rather than keeping images stored locally on my phone which saves gobs of storage space. Instead, I can 'stream' images I want to see or show to someone rather than have them taking up space on my mobile phone. Plus it's one less thing to worry about moving to a new mobile device when the time comes. The drag & drop to upload images from a PC is a real nice feature that comes in handy too. I like that, once uploaded, I can easily right click to get a link to hot-link to the images and it automatically resizes them to a more acceptable size for web use. If I want a larger version I can edit a couple numbers (the max width which shows up next to the letter 's' for size) in the url of the link to make it just about any size I want. I like that I can make a single image or an entire folder private or public as needed. On top of all of that the storage limit is essentially unlimited now that they've linked Picasa to Google+ effectively eliminating the capacity cap on free accounts.

I'm with Jer on Picasa.
Having all of the pics taken with my phone automatically upload is awesome.

Interesting. Does that require an app? I use photobucket and had to get an app for my iPhone to upload pictures.
No problems with photobucket other than I need to clean it out all the time!

They're technically uploaded to Google Plus but can be managed through Picasa. You would need a Google Plus account and the Google Plus app on an Android phone for it to work.
I'm now very interested in Picasa.

I don't have mine automatically upload.. with Picasa anyway. I do have Dropbox as well and I have a folder there set up to upload all the pictures I take with my camera automatically which isn't Picasa. This way if I accidentally delete or something happens to my phone I still have them all. Then I generally get them from Dropbox on whatever PC I'm on at the time to edit and then I will upload them to Picasa. Sometimes I will crop on my phone and then upload to Picasa if all it needs is cropped or depending on what I want to use them for. My options are pretty diverse but the only app is Dropbox. The Picasa thing is integrated with the stock Google Gallery depending on which gallery you have. You can then go into your accounts & sync to make sure Picasa/Gallery is automatically synced. Then all of your Picasa folders show up in your gallery alongside the folders that are on your phone already. It's very handy.
