View Full Version : What is the name of that survival blog story?

I think it was discussed here before SHTF. The "(something) Journal" I think. The one where the author posts a new entry every day. Dang it, I never bookmarked it, like an idiot, and can't think of the name of it. Linky?

I'm all caught up on it. Knowing the writer, I'm excited to see how all of the current side stories come together.

I'm all caught up too, really good format for some casual storytelling. I'm hooked for sure!

It's funny, when I first heard of this I read the first few dozen entries in about 2 days, then caught up with the author. Reading one post a day was too much of a tease, so I held off. I have a few to catch up on now. Nice!

Good story so far.

Yeah, reading one a day makes me angry.

Are any of you listening to "we're alive"? It's good too, but not as good as TUCJ.

I listened to a ton of We're Alive a while back and then lost track when things started to get really off. I'd like to start back up with it but I'd probably have to start from the beginning as I have no idea where I'm at in the story.

Another great story is Adrian's Undead Diary. That's my favorite blog story so far.

Chevy, which is the other one you mentioned in the original thread? You said that it can get really dark and weird.

It was probably Adrian's Undead Diary.

The latest entry in Union Creek is complete trash. I'm expecting that the author will continue the story but with the way the latest confrontation was built up, I expected an epic entry today.

Very disappointed in the last entry for UCJ. Was expecting a lot more than that!

Yeah, I guess he plans on detailing the big battle in the sequel.

I'm still angry about the ending.

So I had waited for about two weeks worth of entries to build up, and read them all in one day. The last entry posted was the second to last entry. Then I waited another week to check again today, even after seeing this thread. DOH!

That's some pretty sloppy business right there. It's not a sequel if it's the same story that you just randomly chopped in half. It wasn't bad, but I was pretty disappointed with some of the stuff, like the "duuuuhhhhh...let's go steal a chopper! How hard can it be?" part. And pulling this stunt was kinda bizarre IMHO.

Well, if this guy wasn't an ameture author, we wouldn't be reading that on a free blig now would we?

Bump!

So I've been reading Adrian's Undead Diary on my Nook for a while. Certainly a different feel than The Union Creek Journal, but I like it. Some of the entries can be pretty long as well. I'm reading the entry about the two girls at the school now, and this is worth at least three normal entries. I'm not actually sure how long this one goes, or where I am as far as progress. Thanks for the recommendation dropped_chevy. I some how remembered the name after nearly a year.

Also, anyone know if the author of The Union Creek Journal ever put out more work?

You're welcome for the recommendation. I actually started up reading AUD again recently. I need to copy it all into a file and make a mobi file so it's easier to keep track of where I am.

Finally finished AUD. I really liked the premise. I think I liked the premise more than the actual story.

He definitely mailed it in towards the end.

A lot of the survival genre stories seem like Dean Koontz books. Good story development, great plot crescendo, .... and then boom, it was aliens, story over in 4 pages.

That's pretty true. A lot of "epic" tales have lame endings. It's tough to end an epic story. Wizard's First Rule ending was forgetable. The most epic thing about Stephen King's The Dark Tower series was how lame the ending was.
