"Best" is a relative term in most things. There are a lot of choices in LPKs and some are better for different uses than others. What are you planning to do with the rifle? Do you want single-stage or a two-stage trigger? What's your budget?

I've only built one rifle, but I used a CMMG LPK that I am very happy with, and it was only $70 or so. I only plink with it though, so YMMV. I played with someone else's new build recently that had a Spike's LPK in it and the trigger felt a little gritty to me, but it will probably feel better after some break-in. You will probably get a lot of recommendations for something with a Geissele two-stage trigger in it; they are very nice triggers, but be prepared to spend over $200 for the whole kit if you go that route. Bower's Tactical has a few "custom" LPKs they've put together from various manufacturers, typically including some model of Geissele, if you're building a hot rod.

Well this is the first one I have ever put together. I just want a good Mil-spec single stage lpk that is going to last. I'm kinda new to this and you hear so many stories about the quality differences between all of them. I'm kinda lost because of all the choices. Palmetto has one with a Magpul grip for 64.00.

Oh yeah, I figure I don't want to spend more than $100. The main reason I am putting this one together is to use with a slide fire stock for bumpfire.

Daniels Defense makes a nice LPK but it's pricey. I've also used CMMG, PSA and Spikes Tactical LPKs. They all work the same. I honestly don't think there's much difference between branded LPKs. Just get one from a known good manufacturer and you'll be fine. Stay away from unlabelled LPKs that may contain parts rejected by other manufacturers. PSA is a great source for lower build kits that include the LPK and stock assemblies.

Good advise! Spikes, LMT, DD are all good choices.

Having installed my first LPK this evening . . . I'm very pleased with the CMMG kit I picked up from Bowers Tactical last week. The fit is snug, although I think there is a bit more over-travel than necessary in the trigger.

Thanks for the advise everybody, Kinda sounds like they are all about the same if you stay with the name brands.

I've helped a couple friends with builds in the last couple of weeks. The FCG that PSA is putting out right now is top as far as $55 LPK is concerned. I would definitely recommend.

G&R Tactical has a LPK using mostly Lewis Machine & Tool parts. For $120 you can upgrade the trigger to a Geissele G2S 2-stage trigger that appears to be the OEM version of the SSA.

Used a PSA for Splogan's build the other day and for an off the shelf trigger it was much better than the CMMG ones I have used in the past. My CMMG trigger is very nice now for a std type but it did take a little work. [Flower]
