View Full Version : Latest Builds
Hey guys..here are a couple of my latest builds..Lunyfringe and I were working on them last friday.
The one without the front sight base is not quite finished obviously..Ran out of time. It is a 5.56 x 45 East German barrel that I got at APEX. The furniture is a salt and pepper laminate that I had Ironwood Designs do. It looks much better than the timbersmith. I'm using ak74 parts throughout except for the barrel, magazine, and bolt. They are all 5.56. Hopefully can get the front sight pressed and pinned before the weekend and test fired.
The 47 is a Romy G kit that I am using AK74 furniture on.
Anyone planning on doing any parkerizing in the Springs Area? I would like to learn how to do it.
That pretty much finishes up the kits I have..except for 1 74 kit that I am stashing...
I think the next thing I would like to try is some kind of .308..but have no idea how to go about that..
Anyway..thought I would show my progress..
Those are good looking rifles. Your first builds from scratch? I would love to build one from scratch. Maybe for hog hunting...
Long time no see!!
Came out nice!!!
I like how the IronWood stock looks.Gives ait a nice touch.
I will be moving out to the Springs in the next month and 1/2-end of June begining of July, and I can show you how to park some stuff.or you can hook up with CrufflerSteve-he's in Sadalia,I dont know how far that is from the Springs, but he might be willing to make a trip.
Justin and I allready have a blasting setup and all we need to get are some park tanks.
Musashi..no they are not my first builds. Ive built 4 74 kits and 2 romy G kits (including these 2). Zteknik worse case I'll just leave em as is for a while...I would like to park these to do something different.. I've used the brownells gun kote on the other ones and thats nice, but like I said, I would like to try something different..
It's allways nice to do something different.
One day I'd like to do a Beryl clone with a Polish camo job using duracoat.

I can loan out my Park equipment, minus the parkerizing compound. I have 3 raingutter built aluminum soakers that can handle barreled actions fine. I have a stainless steel park tank that is deeper and uses 4 to gallons of liquid. It has a wimpy electric heater and I use a propane stove to get it to proper temp. I can loan the stove but not the propane. It powers my BBQ.
I can also let you use my Black Oxide and Park Prep mix. They seem to have a longer life than the actual park which is a plating solution.
Some time soon I'm going to see about making a stainless or aluminum top for the Park tank because it steams awful when it gets about 185 degrees. I also have some pieces of scrap steel that I use under the park tank to diffuse the stoe heat.
Steve
Good luck getting those finished up, they look great.

Aw man-I should have saw that one coming. :)
local machine shop who does all my engine work..The owner is a gun nut..he took a block of aluminum and machined his own ar15 lower from colt drawings..I gave him a bulgy barrel and said match the contour..the only thing I didn't have him do was the part of the barrel that went into the trunion..I should have..would have saved me some time and lots of emery cloth..
Poo....Lunyfringe test fired the 5.56 for me this evening..7 rounds..4 FTE...
Looks like I took too much off the ejector..Well..weld some back on there I guess and grind it down.. What do you all think?

Sounds nice yeah the ejector is probably too short.
That bites.
If its feeding a few then just a tad of welding should do the trick-remember to re heat treat after you weld and shape it.
