View Full Version : What is the real deal with the Boulder Rifle Club?

Okay, I have been using the north shoot area, and I like it. What I don't like is the drive -- which sucks up a lot of shooting time, and makes each shooting trip a "big deal" and harder to fit into a tight schedule.

The BRC range sitting right there 10 minutes from my house is a mighty irritant (a 10-year waiting list? c'mon). I have spoken to one BRC member who gave me the impression this membership policy is based at least partly on concern about screwing up their safety record, thereby causing the PRB to frown upon their range and take it away.

Of course, in the meantime, the area becomes more and more left/anti. I guess it makes sense to exclude/throttle local shooters. . . or not.

I can pay to participate in their matches, but I can't practice there.

Probably everyone here has heard or made the same rant. Am I missing something, or does the BRC really have a counterproductive dingdong policy?

I have no idea what their policy is, but it's a private club so it can be basically whatever they want.

I'd suggest you find out who the president of the club is and talk to him, he should be able to explain exactly how everything works.

Grant Von Letkemann is the president of the club, here is his email address.

I would be interested in his response.

Thanks. Will do. This is a busy time and I have higher priority things to do, but I'll post some kind of summary/followup when it happens. I actually feel a little sorry for the club, because I get the sense of people hunkered down.

Speaking of higher-priority things, the Christmas lights are up. Woooo-hooo! Maybe I should get really ambitious and think about shopping . . .

BRC has always been a pain to get into as a member.

You might want to inquire into the "Boulder Lite" membership. Or move...

I"ll ask my dad about the BRC. He has connections with the club from way back.

(I fondly remember the BRC north range as a cool place to go back in the day.... and I remember the south before there were any buildings on it (I helped a tiny bit with the construction, btw)

Kind of stuck in the same dilemma here. Boulder resident (going to fix that soon) - and I have to drive to the ass of the world to practice. Would love to hear about creative ways to try to join the club.

Is there a place at the "north Site" where I could put up some AQT targets at 25m and shoot prone etc?

The freakin' Cherry Creek Range doesn't let you do anything but sit in their little fooking windows. I really need to practice sitting, prone and standing.
