Piece of shit coonassed chicken shit cocksucker that stole my kids pride and joy last night.
If I find you you are history.
Just so you know, the 03 metallic blue WRX tag # 649-TJP that you stole from the Cantera Apartments (6th & Potomac)last night was my sons graduation present.
Yes, he went to school, worked hard and reaped the awards of his work.
And you piece of shit stole it.
You broke my kids heart.
You broke my heart.
A special place awaits you....
On the same note- Guys and Gals- if you see a medium metallic blue 03 WRX with the tag 649-TJP please notify LE ASAP.
It does have a STI rear wing and the tow hook in the rear is painted bright red.
Thanks

Ugh too many Subarus stolen...I'll post up on the local Subaru boards, Bert.
Have any pictures of it? I remember it having the STi spoiler, which makes it a bit unique for that year.

I appreciate any help folks, my heart breaks for my kiddo, it was his baby.
Sad reality is with the hop up goodies he had on it it is probably going to be found in an ally in a dishwasher box.

Man you just can't have anything nice....Fucking Liberals...oops I mean thieves.
Unless there was a key somewhere in the vehicle that would not be an easy car to steal. Sounds like they towed it out of there.
So sorry to hear about it Bert. I remember that point in my life, I'm sure your boy is heartbroken. Hopefully he gets it back.

My thought as well, it was parked under his GF's window and he said the bedroom window was open. He has a catback system and it is pretty loud and throaty, he always hears it when I move it in the am. Not to mention the alarm was in good working order, not sure if it has a motion sensor though.
Posted on the motorcycle boards. A lot of those guys are into cars as well, and they hate thieves even more than we do, if that's possible.
Anger and frustration aside (I know I've been there and it's the worst feeling in the world to have a vehicle stolen from you)- did you have it covered? Did you have Comprehensive coverage on it or was it liability only?
Sorry to hear that, will keep an eye out and let my bro know in case in shows up at a dealer for whatever reason.

Well that's a sigh of relief, but yes, I concur, I had my motorcycle stolen about 6 years ago, and being a cheap-ass I only had liability on it ($5,000 bike figured if I wreck it it would be easier just to buy a new one). Well lo and behold it's stolen and I'm stuck with my dick in the wind and no reimbursement for my purchase price. That sucked, but what sucked worse was that it was actually recovered and so badly wrecked that the rebuild would require a salvage title and I just gave it to a buddy who wanted to build a bike out of it for the cost of his labor of love. So I've been there, it's the suckiest of suck. I think thieves deserve to be beaten ruthlessly if not worse.

Doesn't mean anything. The person could have just been gauging interest to see if he could even sell the parts he was stealing or if it was going to be a waste of time. Sorry to hear that Bert, hope it all works out for you.

Anyone ever tell you guys you're paranoid?
[ROFL1] I was thinking the same thing... I don't think car thieves do that kind of thing, then again I'm not one so I don't fully know, but my limited experience with being a victim and reading about grand theft auto I've never come across a single case where an auto theft will "case" a car so in depth before stealing it... I always joke that I wish someone would steal my crap-mobile so it would become their problem. A WRX is a bit different, I hope you find those shit bags and I'll keep my eyes open.
It does suck. Always feel so violated when something like this happens. Fortunately, I have come to learn that a car is just a thing. Things can be replaced. Not the kind of lesson a guy wants to learn at his age I'm sure. Hopefully the insurance will pay it off and he can manage to get something else he will love even more. It was a nice looking ride.
On a side note, I wish someone would steal my truck. It would really help me make up my mind about getting a different one. [Coffee]

Where do you live ;)
A friend of mine had his CTS-V sedan stolen like this - just gone... Thieves were savvy enough to disconnect the Onstar box etc. before moving it so there was no record of the car captured by any Onstar systems. The car turned up in eastern CO after being hooned, so there's potentially hope.

If you think it was towed in some form. I may suggest pin pointing routes taken from the area and see if there are camera's on these routes. Gas stations, out door atm's... I don't know... something

Final Closure-
His old car was written off by the insurance as a theft loss. Non recovery at this point.
They wrote him a check and paid off the balance.
He closed on an 04 WRX today, bone stock and a really nice car.
Financed about what he owed on the old one and ended up with a cleaner, year newer ride that nobody has monkeyed with.
I bought him a "club" for the steering wheel, figure it may deter somebody. I will help him get a good security system in a couple weeks.
Just another chapter in the saga of life.
Thank you all so very much for the positive thoughts and support.

Along the LoJack lines....I have been doing a bunch of homework and actually talked to a couple of auto theft Detectives.
While LoJack is helpful it is a passive system and is only activated after the car is stolen and activated by a LE agency when notified by the owner.
It does nothing to prevent the theft.
It also is quite territorial, in CO basically only the front range is covered.
Expensive as well, 700.00 for installation and a two year subscription.
Many of the newest generation alarm systems have the ability to communicate with the owner, advising them if activated. They also disable the ignition and fuel system. GPS capability is also available which has a much larger coverage for locational purposes.
They also have some cool options such as glass break sensors, infrared sensors and here is a good one, an "area denial" generator. It is basically a noise weapon for the interior like the .Mil uses that creates such a loud 160 db noise and pitch that is unbearable. I spoke with an alarm installer that said he has accidentally triggered one and it made him feel like his head was going to explode and he was going to puke.
I like it!
Believe or not the detectives I spoke with said the "Club" is extremely effective.
Most potential thieves even if they are experienced and competent thieves will bypass a vehicle with the club or pedal lock.
I like the area denial generator.Must cost quite a bit to install though.
When I worked towing and recovery I had a few vehicles that still had the club still on them.
I still say the trunk monkey is the best!!

Thieves still suck.

Hey bert, my wife was sold a lojak type thing that was never installed. Im sure she would sell it for cheap! Or maybe trade for something
Bert, I have always put in a Viper 2 way system in my older cars, very good alarm and the talkback sends my keychain into a fit if anything happens. They aren't too expensive, installed at Best Buy for under $500.
I have a viper 5701 on mine. I believe you can even get the cellular addon to be able to activate it with an app.

Here's the cellular thing. It has 2 way communication through the app, GPS, and also provides DTCs of the car if needed
Another +1 for the Viper / Clifford units. Mine has great range and with the remote start (+$40) you can't beat it. Now they even give the option to remote start from your Iphone, don't think I would but still very cool.

Thanks for the tips guys.
We are going to go with a DEI system, they build Viper, Clifford, Avital and a couple others.
They basically build almost all of the alarm systems that are worthwhile.
We just need to sit down with the installer when we are ready and figure out which system will be best for the kiddo.
