I just paid $240 to Arapahoe county to pay for registration on a 1984 Blazer. Seriously?
My truck seems to actually go up every year. It $200 three years ago, Two years ago it was $250, a year ago it was $300, then this year it was $270. What the F***?!
My wife's new 2011 Optima, $436 last month. I can't believe this. I'm losing my mind.
You have to pay for the guys taking the bus.And of course the busdrivers salaries.
No, not really, Paying for all that useless light rail system that nobody uses.
Excuse my ignorance-but what is a light rail system?
Is that like a monorail system?
They tried that here in NY and it flopped big time.
Tags on the 98 F150 is $113 in Adams, I hear you though I paid $763 on my 08 Fj and about shat myself.

F*ck Bill Ritter
Fuck colorado and their ridiculous registration fees.
When people from Kali move here and bitch about the registration fees, you have a problem.
oh, and just try selling a car and trying to get your refund.
bahahahahahahah, yeah, they fucking keep it all. Even though you pay in advance.
and why exactly do we have to pay sales tax on a used vehicle that was already registered here? Isn't that paying tax on the same thing twice (or more)?

This Ritter tax cost me over $500 a year on all my vehicles...I am still *u**ing mad as hell about it!!!!!!!! I hate that bastard!!!!!!!!!!

The same thing, this one is just on the ground. Same results.
Yeah Bill Ritter sucks big apples and remember his words, "This is not a tax, it's a fee"....uh OK, it's a tax dressed up to look like something other than a tax but is still a TAX..dumbass...
I noticed that my registration fees went up this year too... WTF? Taxation into poverty if you ask me, CO is getting worse the more and more liberal we become (I don't mean us as liberals I just mean the libs keep getting more and more wins here). I thought you could argue against this due to registration and tax being based on the value of the car. Someone told me once that all you need is KBB and NADA value sheets and you can appeal your fees and they adjust based on how much your car is worth now, not the purchase price. I'm not sure on this though so don't take that to the bank without checking more on it.
I have a 2001 wrangler. I paid about $25+ more this year than last year. Not including stupid emissions.

All you good subjects, don't forget you are supposed to be paying sales tax for all the items bought and sold on the trading post.
"Consumer use tax must be paid by Colorado residents and businesses on purchases that did not include Colorado sales tax, such as those made over the Internet, by mail order, or by telephone."

A large part of the current registration cost is the "temporary fee increase" that became permanent this year, as it was about to expire. My old POS 85 Yamaha XT350 was $17.92 to plate in 09, this year it will cost me $160.92 if I choose to register it, including the ridiculous late fees. $43 of that is road and bridge fees for a motorcycle that weighs less than 400 lbs, and gets ridden a couple hundred miles a year.
I can't wait to see what my new will cost me.

I've "gone Galt" on my car purchases... I can afford a new car, but flat won't do it because of the fees & taxes-if they want me to reduce my emissions, they're going to have to provide an incentive...

I thought paying $207 for my '05 Chevy 1500 was bad, guess I have no reason to complain now.
Whew, my new beater just got registered and tagged... $75 out the door here in El Paso county.
I wouldn't be able to afford a couple hundred.

That's weird... my wife and I just did our 97 Corolla and 99 Camry and it was just under or just over $150 for both of them I think?
Used to register my jeep for $22. Now it's around $75. 300% increase and they claim no inflation

$434 for my Tundra and $48 for the Harley last month.
And don't forget the tax on the gas you use to operate these vehicles too. Somewhere around $0.40/gallon total.

No, not really, Paying for all that useless light rail system that nobody uses.
If people were required to pay for the light rail like DC residents do when they ride the Metro then it would pay for itself and possibly make money. But the current system of the honor code when purchasing a ticket is ridiculous.
If the damn thing went over the entire metro area rather than lone tree to downtown it may actually get business as well.
Mine for my truck was $187 last year.. now it's $204.. wtf?!?
I may have y'all beat. Last year my A4 was due so I paid the almost $300 for new tags. Then, less than 3 weeks later I traded it in on a new Kia that was about $28k. My credit for three weeks of use of $300 was less than $110. Do the math on that one. Then, to sweeten the pot the plates on my new Kia were $690 and that's NOT including sales tax. If you're keeping score that's damn near a thousand dollars for plates on a couple 4dr sedans. Unbelievable. They want us to buy safer, cleaner burning cars and help the economy then they punish us for doing so. Our government needs to learn to make due with what they have rather then just keep wringing every penny out of us that they can. This is out of control on ALL levels.
