Thinking about building a new AR in one of these calibers. I have looked up ammo for 6.5 grendel and it is expensive even for reloading(which i do), also seems hard to find. I know a guy who swears by this caliber though. I dont know much about the 6.8 spc, but part of me is leaning towards a 308 because it is such a popular caliber thereby easiar to find components for but i also want to get the best ballistics i can. Any opinions are welcome.

the 308 is an AR-10 caliber and much more expensive to build and feed than a 223.

The 6.8 and 6.5 are expensive to feed.

The 300 Whisper/Blackout is a more affordable option.

6.8 is a good option, but I think in the long run 300 will become a more mainstream round. As mentioned by Hoser, 308 is a different beast altogether and before you start investing in the "AR 10" business do a LOT of research.

Everyone keeps saying the 6.5 and 6.8 is dead but I still see people shoot 'em. I would skip all that nonsense and go 300 BLK if it were me.

If you really want a .308 in an AR style then get an OBR. Will be cheaper and faster than dicking around with everything.

I don't think the 6.5 and 6.8 are dead but you don't hear much from the big industry about either anymore. Why maybe people think it is dead????

I was looking at a doing a 6.8 and started to read a lot about .300 BLK. I liked what I saw with versatility, super cheap to convert an existing setup into one that will fire .300 BLK and the big Freedom group was backing it.

I went that way and don't regret it.
