What I thought was interesting is that this headline marked the first time in a loooong while someone used a recent picture of Treyvon looking like a punk instead of the standard one taken years ago where he looks like an innocent little kid.

Yeah. The new report also details injuries both sustained. It also states the Sanford PD recommended manslaughter charges against Zimmerman but the DA refused.
So much for everyone trying to blame the PD for being incompetent and dropping the ball.
I wish the original thread was still here. There are a few discussions I'd like to have now that some more details are emerging.

While I don't think this really comes as a surprise to anybody and it is not a game changer IMO, it does serious damage to the credibility of the Martin camp.
It seems that the evidence supports Zimmermans initial statements more and more...

Didn't read the article but there's testing for both active and inactive THC metabolites now. Does the article say which was found, or if even test for this? One can test positive for weeks after the use.

it won't matter a bit to the black community, they will use this as an excuse to riot. he is dead because he is black, no he is dead becasue he attacked another human, i submit that had trayvon had a gun of his own he would have shot zimmerman and claimed self defense.
i lived in Fl for 15 years and have friends that live near Sanford. They are already gearing up for the worst. If zimmerman walks the town will burn for at least a week.
there will be copycat riots in at least 10 cities.

I do think that Zimmerman was a bit too enthusiastic in his "patrolling" he should have gone out and earned the badge, another wannabe cop in my opinion.
It is call neighborhood "watch" it is not not neighborhood "follow, stop question, confront and accuse". he should have stayed his butt in the car.
That being said, trayvon obviously attacked him in some fashion, at that point trayvon has lost all sympathy from me, he had a phone, if he felt that zimmerman was threatening him he should have called the cops himself instead of beating up a much smaller individual. once attacked zimmerman had the right to defend himself.

When I first read the title of this article I thought that maybe for once there was a news story that was going to be neutral. But then I read it and over a 3rd of it was citing reports and interviews in an attempt to demonstrate Zimmerman is racist. ZERO elaboration on the drugs in Martins blood.

So what?...that has nothing to do w/the facts of the case AND the jury will never be allowed to hear that as it will unduly influence the outcome/jury.
In the end...GZ will be rich as he will sue and get money for a politically motivated prosecution...iow, he was railroaded.

Apparently I missed all the articles about that part of it. The stories I read all said he lost sight of the kid, got out to look for him, and was attacked while getting back into his car. After reporting it to the police on the phone.
But then, you're right, he probably had the spot light out and was questioning poor innocent Trayvon.

sanford has been a bad neighborhood for years was even fifteen years ago when i lived in Altamonte Springs and Oviedo, So what.
My story is the same. CCW is not meant to allow you to patrol your neighborhood and making contact with potential bad guys. I think he should have stayed his ass in the car. and waited for the cops to contact the suspect,.
The point was that he was patrolling his neighborhood because of all the recent break-ins. It is kind of a cop-out answer to just say, "just become a real cop" because then he'd be away all day being a cop some where else.
The whole point of doing neighborhood watch, is to watch your neighborhood and report on suspicious activities. He had an incident earlier where he did just what you suggested and the guys got away. Neighborhood watch is useless if no one ever gets caught so he had to up his efforts in order to get stuff done.

nope, you are correct.
Being a citizen allows you to do that. The your sidearm is to defend yourself in case the bad guy gets violent... just like the Cops sidearm.
Having grown up in FL, we were taught to shoot first and ask ?s later.

also in the article that I didn't know was that George Zimmerman was on prescription drugs for anxiety and insomnia.
Side effects may include drowsiness, insomnia, swelling of the feet, and murdering innocent black children. If you kill more than one innocent black child, consult a lawyer.

Remove the names, skin color, bIases you have etc and take another look.
Rmac, unless you can expand on the effects of anti-anxiety medication in a way that relates it to this inncident, and care to define what "agressive following" is, your observations are just as bias as anyone else's.
Not to mention that assault is a crime.

You forgot to mention that the injuries both sustained before the shot was fired seem to indicate Martin was assaulting Zimmerman...which is a crime. I don't know of any law that lets a person assault another person just because they were being followed.

Who cares what someone's background is or what clothes they were wearing. None of us know. all this crap about skittles and whether or not someone is Hispanic or white is freaking stupid.

So you're saying that an un-prescribed illegal substance taken at random levels at random intervals for reasons of mood altering, mind altering & just generally having a good time while escaping from reality that was purchased from some random high school drop-out is somehow the same as a prescribed controlled substance taken as directed by a educated and trained physician for reasons of normalizing specific chemicals & hormones that may be out of whack normally?
