I'm on the job list for NOCO and received an e-m from the vet rep. The City of Greeley is looking for a Diesel mechanic like yesterday and has not had any luck. Here's the basic e-mail from him and his e-mail addy. Let him know another vet who is on the e-m list put it out there.
Also you can contact him if you'd like to get on the job e-m notices.
If you're qualified or fit the parameters Good Luck.
I need to get responses from those of you who want to work as a diesel mechanic, but first a couple of caveats: You do not need to be certified as a mechanic but you do need to have at least some basic experience. By basic, I mean that you have good mechanical aptitude, have a basic knowledge of tools, and have experience in at least doing light repairs. Further, y'all know yourselves better than I do, so if you know this isn't the job for you and/or don't feel like you have the desire or ability to do it, please don't respond to me on this particular opportunity. When you respond, please include a good phone number.
The reason for this is that the City of Greeley has been trying to hire a diesel (bus) mechanic for weeks. Some of you might even remember that I sent out a note on that couple of weeks back. They are in desperate need, and there is a very good chance that at this point they will hire a vet for OJT. However, and I need to emphasize the "however" here, the intent behind this is not to train a mechanic from scratch. The intent is to take someone who is wants to do this as a career and who has at least the very basics of being a mechanic already in hand and then elevate them into a full on diesel mechanic. Be prepared to interview relatively quickly, and I would specifically be prepared to explain in your interview why you want to be a bus mechanic, why it would be a good fit, what existing skills you can
