WHY? Any decent commercial tv show that makes you think, OR talk about gets shit canned. The attention span of the US population is more comfortable with ANY reality show where you text in a response rather than actually think what if.
Rescue Me
The Shield
Justified
Archer
How long would any of these shows stayed on abnbcbs before getting pulled or someone complaining about guns, language etc. Not to say there are no good shows out there, they unfortunately get axed because the 18-28 demographic is watching idolbetsyoucanbesmarterthana5yearold.

Looks a lot like the premnise of a series of books called the Emberverse series by S.M. Sterling (http://www.smstirling.com/)starting with the first book, Dies The Fire (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dies_the_Fire). Excellent stories.
If the writers of Revolution can do for the story what S.M. Stirling did for the Emnberverse series, this show should be a winner.

With Hunger Games and now this, I suspect archery is going to become much more popular than it has been in past.

Trailer for the series looks awesome! I'll be scanning the first show for entry into the DVR.
BTW, did I miss the second season of Falling Skies or did it get cancelled (or not started yet)? Never mind. Starts on Jun 17th.
Thanks.

You know prior to the invention of electricity the industrial revolution was in full swing and we were making some pretty advanced stuff. Not sure why in 15 years we would loose all ability to manufacture. Lord knows ak's would still be kicking.
Falling Skies 2 hour season premiere June 17 9/8c
I think the show would be better without Noah Wyle as the main character.
Back on topic: This new show on NBC looks interesting, I'll probably check it out.

Agreed ... I'm sure they'll ruin it with leftard political sucker-punches like they did Jericho (making Dick Chaney the bad guy).
I'm sure we'll find out that Rush Limbaugh and the Tea Party started a war to kill the brown people and things got out of hand or some other such bovine scat.
Ha it's all Bush's fault get real.

I think to appease the sheeple they had to tone down the voilance by getting ride of those evil assault rifles.
Looks interesting. Wonder why every gun carrier is toting a musket?

It looks like the show takes place 15 years later. I suspect those with guns are carrying muskets because it is easier to manufacture black powder and balls than it is smokeless powder and primers being that modern cartridge components have long since been used up.
I was a little turned off by the sword fighting too...
PS - I agree with the notion that the people would have started manufacturing again after 15 years with no electricity. Did we totally forget about steam engines and belt driven factories?

Actually I think part of the premise is that modern technology (electricity, internal combustion, maybe even steam power, smokeless powder, etc) have mysteriously stopped working.
Seriously there's a LOT of ammunition and components laying around (and smokeless powder is not that hard to make) so that even 15 years after a major collapse there would be plenty of functional guns and ammo out there.
I think an undercurrent of the entire series is going to be to figure out what (possibly supernatural? possibly extra-terrestrial?) power caused technology to stop working.
I just don't trust NBC (or any member of the Democrat/Media complex) to address this subject without injecting a LOT of leftist politics into it.

Well why should sword fighting be so out of the ordinary.. guess what they had before guns..
I know how to use a katana.. it only seems natural that if people can't have firearms readily available they'd avail themselves of what centuries of people used for attack and defense.
I hate shows on the broadcast networks.. fox is just as bad.. The Unit is a good example of a good show being cancelled for political reasons.. too much realism.
I think FX has grown into an awesome network.. Justified, Archer, Sons of Anarchy.. even AMC w/ mad men... They're giving the networks a run for sure.

Nope, not even close. Obviously global warming, or as they now call it, "anthropogenic climate change". Al Gore makes a cameo appearance as a Katana-wielding Shaman.

I'm thinking it's maybe human caused or something. The one guy knows it's about to happen, and has that amulet thingy that allows a computer to work somehow. (It's in the trailer)
I am sure if I took the time to watch and enjoy the show, it will be cancelled.

Anyone see the ads and trailers for the upcoming Revolution TV series on NBC Monday nights? Starting on Sept 17th. The premise is apparently some unknown phenomena renders all electronics on the entire planet, and the power grid, useless. Seems just a bit too bogus for me, since not EMP, and the electrical grids are local/regional - i.e. there is no such thing as a worldwide power grid. Makes no sense either since power losses over long distances are too great for a worldwide power grid to be practical.
It looked like everyone was sword fighting, which seemed more than a little stupid. There are enormous stocks of ammo around the world, especially here, and that and firearms would't be affected by a solar flare or some other "unknown phenomenon" that kills electronics. Heck, the walking dead is a lot more plausible than this...

Leave it up to NBC to take a cool concept and ruin it.

Whether or not they give him credit for it, it's a TV version of S.M. Stirling's Dies The Fire book. Great read!

+1 THIS. Ever see that old Star Trek, where Kirk and the Gorn (lizardman) captain are placed on a movie set/planet to fight to the death? The slowpoke stupid Gorn just chases Kirk around until Kirk can find the components for gunpowder and build a "hand cannon" and blow the Gorn away. I think this was where they got the idea for "McGuyver"!

I want to know who the writer is for this. I had this idea years ago, the scary part was that people never figured it out and they all died. Sorry Will Smith will not be saving us this time.

They might as well have cancelled the Olympics w/ the damn broadcast delay!
Here are the top nine comments made by NBC sports commentators during the
Summer Olympics that they would like to take back:
1. Weightlifting commentator: "This is Gregoriava from Bulgaria. I saw her
snatch this morning during her warm up and it was amazing."
2. Dressage commentator: "This is really a lovely horse and I speak from
personal experience since I once mounted her mother."
3. Paul Hamm, Gymnast: "I owe a lot to my parents, especially my mother and
father."
4. Boxing Analyst: "Sure there have been injuries, and even some deaths in
boxing, but none of them really that serious."
5. Softball announcer: "If history repeats itself, I should think we can
expect the same thing again."
6. Basketball analyst: "He dribbles a lot and the opposition doesn't like
it. In fact you can see it all over their faces."
7. At the rowing medal ceremony: "Ah, isn't that nice, the wife of the IOC
president is hugging the cox of the British crew."
8. Soccer commentator: "Julian Dicks is everywhere. It's like they've got
eleven Dicks on the field."
9. Tennis commentator: "One of the reasons Andy is playing so well is that,
before the final round, his wife takes out his balls and kisses them... Oh
my God, what have I just said?"
DVR is already set, Just so I don't forget it![Coffee]
I watched the premiere episode last night online via MB888's link above. It was alright. I wish they would have developed the situation a lot more instead of just jumping from the event to 15 years later. The main girl is smokin' too. I'll watch it for a few more episodes and see how it goes.
It starts officially on Sept 17th if I recall correctly.
