Bullets Fired into Limo at 11th & Speer (http://www.myfoxcolorado.com/myfox/pages/Home/Detail?contentId=1932102&version=11&locale=EN-US&layoutCode=TSTY&pageId=1.1.1)

DENVER -- The agent for Denver Broncos cornerback Darrent Williams tells Fox 31 Sports that Williams was shot and killed early New Year's morning in a drive-by shooting in downtown Denver.

Denver police say one vehicle pulled up next to a white hummer limousine at 11th and Speer just around 2:00 a.m. Monday. Investigators say someone fired shots into the limousine.

What a bad way to end the season for the Broncos and even a worst way to kick off the New Year. F***king drive-by punks  We'll be praying for his family and his Bronco family! God bless Darrent Williams (27)

I'm still shocked. ESPN this morning had some brief snippets saying he had just left a night club. But details are still coming in.

I think the kid was just 23, 24 yrs. old. This is so tragic. Events like this are a constant reminder to me how fragile life is and how we should feel blessed with the life God has given us. You'll be missed #27...

I hate football and had never heard of this guy, but that's a really shitty way and age to die. I doubt they'll ever find the perps, but we can hope.

If that's true about the ganstas hangout then pro-athletes, or any sane, responsible adult, should never go to clubs like that or be in areas like that! That's just asking for trouble.

Also, I went to the Denver Post's sports blog and read some people's thoughts and a few posts were blathering things like, "people, put down the guns..." and "we need more gun laws...". I knew this morning when hearing about this tragedy that the anti-2nd Amendment crowd would rear their ugly head and blame all gun owners. This is a big story seeing how Broncos football is basically a state religion here so don't be surprised if all the anti-Bill of Rights groups use this crime as a springboard for more gun control legislation. As we all know, same thing happened after Columbine.

It's too bad the anti gun opportunists will use this tragedy perpertrated by CRIMINALS to further their misguided and utopian agenda.

Second Amendendment Sister/Mista buckit1's wife: "It is sad that such talent and promise could be taken away by fools." Let real justice be done!

There's a full blown witchhunt going on at ARFCOM.

I really hate when all the "experts" come out and start throwing opinions like they knew the guy, or what he was doing last night.

They're doing the same over at Sigforum, I just dumped both of them out of My "Favorites" Don't think I'll go back. Real Sad. and a complete lack of class.

That is why I generally stick around this place [wink]

The thing that pisses me off the most is since when in America does a person have to justify where they go. So If I choose to go to the Safari club ( I have never been there and have no idea where it is located.) If I went there does that mean I deserve to get shot??

WTF am I missing why should any citizen of this country have to be in fear of where they go?? I for one will go where I damn well choose and if any scum bags want trouble I will give it to them enough is enough.

F$#k the media and the rest of the liberals.

I apologize to any and all I may have offended with this post. (rant
off)

If the government can provide security for the citizens, then why is a prison, which the government has complete control over the inmates and security, so dangerous??

The thing that bothers me about the behavior on the other gun boards is these are people whom I though maybe had a bit more class or character. I guess not.

I admit there is a distrubing trend of pro athletes not giving up their "thug" lifestyle after they make it big. There was no evidence of this (that I know of) with Darrent Williams.

It's just so easy to throw a young black pro athlete under the bus and call him a "thug".

Just wait til the liberal media start the "we need protection from guns" thing again just like after the Columbine tragedy.

A visit to ARFCOM or SIGforums will just fuel their fire. [diss]

I was reading the Denver Prada's blog too. I quit after I saw the Bush haters spouting off and the gun grabbers mouthing off, and even a post from a gun supporter being an idiot. My favorite though was the post that said it was Carmello Anthony's west coast rapper buddies who did it, and the shooters are already back in Cali and the guns were dumped over the Rockies. What a dumbass.

Interesting. I haven't run across any of that stuff on the S&W forum.

If you're looking for thugs, the NBA is full of them. More detail;

Fox 31 has learned that Williams, along with teammates Javon Walker and Brandon Marshall were involved in a minor altercation with another group of people at a nightclub at 10th and Broadway where Denver Nuggets forward Kenyon Martin was hosting a New Year’s Eve/Birthday party.

The shooting occurred at 11th and Speer Boulevard shortly after the group left the party. There were more than a dozen people packed inside the stretched Hummer limousine when the shots were fired, Fox 31 has learned.

Sources say Williams died instantly from a gunshot wound to the neck, and he expired in Javon Walker’s lap.

Fox 31 has also learned that Williams was to attend the wedding of teammate Nick Ferguson Monday evening. The wedding was postponed.

It doesn't take much to set something like this off. All that had to happen is someone stepped on Williams' foot and he told them to watch where they were going. Even politely. Most likely, Williams was not the target or no one in the limo knew why they were being shot at. Since the windows are tinted, the suspects would not know who or if they hit anything
