View Full Version : The Magnum (338 Lapua) Match, Raton NM

3-4 times a year there will be a long range rifle match at the NRA Whittington Center in Raton NM.

In a nutshell, you shoot at steel targets that range in size from 12-18 inches from 700-2200 yards. You have two chances to hit each target. First round hits are worth full value and second round hits are worth half value. Minimum total round count for the match is 24 and the max is 48.

Many congrats to Big Chuck for winning the first match. The next match is the Sunday following the July Pueblo Prairie Dog match.

The targets worked as expected Austin , now screw the barrel back on your gun and bring that thing out .

Awesome!! Glad to hear! Yes sir, thats what I am gonna do. That 7mag barrel is toast so its time to get the big bore back on!

How much scope do you need for this match?

Personal preference , most are in the 22 - 25 x range .
