Anyone been up to the St. Vrain site since the storm(s)? How is the snow at the site and on the roads leading up there from Boulder?

I went by there after the second round of storms. Roads were for the most part plowed. You could not park in front of the site. Across the street was a small place to park, three or four cars at the most. Lots of snow but some foot prints went up into the site. I did not stop to shoot for I was working at the time. That canyon road is usually well kept.

I went back on the 31st

As stated you had to park across the road

About 3 ft of snow at the site and I had to break a trail through the berm the plow made

There was a set of tracks and some snow packed down at the edge of the clearing...someone had shot some cly pigeons

The site never looked prettier!

I was up there on the 1st and yes there was a nice trail of packed down snow going through the trees. Once I was out in the open, there were some spots where I sunk in down to my knees. Guess it's time to start losing the extra weight from the holidays.

Ok I went again this morning

A balmy -3 degrees with light snowfall

Left my snowshoes in the truck since it looked like a fair amount of blowing and melting had occured

There were places where the snow was almost gone...and others where there was still a good bit

Only postholed in a couple spots

No...no camera again..I never think of it when I go alone!

Has anyone been up recently? Is it clear enough to go in w/o snowshoes?

not more than a couple of inches of snow left as of today

With the forcast for this week to be sunny/warm I expect it to be clear and dry by next weekend

I was at the north site yesterday. The snow is basically melted off, leaving some coverage in that little pistol area off to the left as you walk in, and a swampy puddle 100 yards out in front of the hill. Mostly dry, though -- even dry enough for prone.

It seemed kinda messy. A lot of shotgun hulls and some brass were laying around. I'm guessing they were hidden under the snow and all the unrecovered mess from snowy winter shooting has emerged. I picked up a bunch of stuff, but there's a lot more there.

I thought it would probably be time for a BIG trash bag when the snow melted

about three inches near the shooting site...

Maybe see you @ 11:00..

Work permitting
