So I am I'm the process of obtaining my CCW. My plan is to carry my G29 IWB or SOB. I am a big guy, 6ft 250 pound so I can conceal it pretty well. But is 10mm too much to carry?

Thanks for the input in advance.

Are you asking if it is too big to conceal? Or too much power?

Though I disagree with the ruling, and I think a better defense council could have changed the outcome; you may want to google the case of "Harold Fish". Something to at least consider.

If you can put the holes where you want with it i would say it it is just about perfect energy wise.

I carried a G29 for years. I put the little finger grove mag floor plate on to help that little finger.

I carry 1911s now but I still like my G20 & G29. The Glock 10mm make great carry guns for the woods or urban. Put a mag of 'hot' 10mm in for the woods and a mag of 'mid' for urban areas. You get it all in one gun.

But the damn ammo is so darn expensive and hard to find.

Oh My Goodness... Convicting because using a caliber that the police do not carry.
This man had the poorest legal defense ever!! He could have been using a bazooka if he felt his life was in danger.

I am x-LEO. I only carry 10mm for CCW. I have also own 9mm, 40S&W and 45ACP... BUT
I personally feel that the if you must get in a gun battle with a handgun the only handgun to have is a 10mm. The only cartridge designed from the ground up as a person stopper.. not for game, target or military use.

I too am 6'2" & 250 lbs but I don't carry a compact gun. The 10mm in full house loads is very difficult to control in compact design. If you choose to carry a 10mm I highly suggest a full size design. I carry a G20 that I easily trust my life to. I used to have a G27 in 40 and after shooting that thing will full house loads.. and barely being able to hand on to it I wouldn't recommend it... or anything with even more power in such a small package that you really can't hang on to it. Pierce grips extensions help but again at 6'2" & 250, my paws are too big to hang on to that little compact. BTW, I LOVE the G26 in 9mm and wish I never traded mine back to the guy I got it from. As far as holsters go I use a minimalist like the Bianchi Black Widow. I'm not a fan of in the waistband... I just find it uncomfortable.

The best gun to carry is the biggest one you are willing to carry. A 10mm is a great caliber for self defense. If you can shoot the gun accurately and control it under rapid fire, then it is a good gun to carry. The smaller a handgun gets, the less controllable and less user friendly it becomes. That is why a lot of the small guns come in 380acp, one for making it smaller, two for being easier to control. A 10mm rocks for carry, if you are willing to carry one and can effectively shoot one.

Not too big. Just right is more like it. A G29sf stoked with Underwood 165 GDHP's at 1400 fps is my EDC.

I'd LOVE to have a Colt Delta Elite in 10mm to haul around with me!!! The perfect CCW caliber, IMO, and from what I've read as well. Wasn't that round developed for the FBI?

I too carry a g29 with a Glaco iwb holster. Sometimes I think the buffalo bore is to hot of a round for cc but I can save those for my hunting side arm. Im considering getting something more conservative for carry.
