I am in Broomfield and really looking at doing an SBR in the next year and a suppressor later.

Wondering if anyone living in my neighborhood as well had problems doing the forms and such since Broomfield has no Sheriff dept.

Just curious what you all had to do?

I don't have either yet, but am also highly considering both once all these wedding/honeymoon expenses pass... We may not have a "sheriff's department" but Tom Deland is still considered the "ex-officio" sheriff since he's the Chief of Police. Take a look here:

I figured when it came time I'd just call the number at the bottom in the "contact us".

A buddy of mine got sign off on a suppressor. Said it wasn't that big a deal. Had to go in to talk to Tom Deland or one of the captains.

Just do a trust. Then you can avoid that stuff, and have other benefits.

He had to talk to Tom or one of the captains, kiss some arse huh??

I guess I need to look clean cut then. :D

Sometimes I think the process is just a little silly specially in the modern age of technology. I guess maybe start up a conversation asking lots of questions and get them to know me better then go in and have him sign off. I am a ways away from it. Got to get the lower I want to use as the registered one and then get an extra $200 to pay for it.

i would second this, a trust is the way to go in the long run. i told my self i would not buy any NFA items until i was able to set up a trust.

i however am not familiar with the sign-off in Broomfield area you might check with Triple8tactical since he lives in that area and i remember you writing a review. he might have a person you can contact!

This is the lawyer i used to set up a Trust she was charging 350.00 to set up a Trust for CO-ar15 members.

Another Lawyer which i find many people going to is Douglas Turner http://www.douglasturner.com/nfa-trusts/ i haven't checked due to already having my trust. but i have herd its anywhere between 650-850. i would have gone with this lawyer but the cost differences basically paid for my first can so i went with the other above.

Another option is creating your own if you feel up to it i however suggest going to attorney to get it set up right.

this is just my .02

I will have to look in to the TRUST thing sounds interesting just more money to spend out up front, thanks for the info.

James at Tripe8 didn't know much about Broomfield, he is in Thornton and hasn't heard anything about Broomfield steps.

Not ready yet any who................ need to get back on my feet first or the wife will kill me. :D

No Broomfield separated to their own county called .......wait for it............... Broomfield.

They do whore off of Adams and Boulder counties for school districts and mental health. They have a police dept and their own county jail but no sheriffs dept and don't use Boulder's or Adams.

I have a friend that lives in Broomfield and has gotten multiple signoffs from the COP there. You should be GTG on an individual submission.

I have some friends that are very connected in the NFA community and the scuttlebutt is that CLEO signoff is supposed to go away on Form 1's and 4's. It's a legacy from the days before there were databases and background checks, and is redundant now. As of the last time I checked the forms on the ATF website, they still had the CLEO signoff sections on them.

All that said, besides the initial cost and set up for a Trust or a Corp, either of these entities streamlines the process as you don't have to submit a passport photo nor fingerprints when submitting your paperwork to the ATF.

I spoke with the guy who did permits at the jail...I can't remember his name right now, but if I heard it, I'd know it...

when I moved here I asked him about who would sign off on that stuff, he was unsure, but thought he would be able to because the COP has given him the "power". I asked his feelings on it, and he had a very good answer
something to the effect of...
"I trust you carrying 24 hours a day in public, why wouldn't I trust you having something at home that would only come out for range days"
