2 weeks here.

Going for the low speed, low stress, low key wedding. Wearing my kilt, ceremony might take 10 minutes, my dogs are the ring bearers, and the ceremony is at the British Pub just up the road.

GOOD LUCK!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

My best advice....

Always remember...you get out of it exactly what you put into it. If you put indifference or anything harmful into it, it will go really really bad and come back to haunt you in a big way.

The whole thing is a LOT of work!!!!

Been married for 9 years in aug, let me shed a little advice;

Never Never Never agree when your wife says "these jeans make my ass look huge".

Never admit to not liking any of your in laws, its a trap.

Always complement your wife atleast every other day (its a woman thing).

Show appricitation for your wife and the things she does that you don't want to do (food shopping etc).

After while all couples get comfortable, always spend atleast one night a month on a "date" and make her feel special.

When Wifiee is happy then everyone in the house will be happy (the reverse is the same also).

Congrats man and keep in mind that the wedding is just for her (holy crap I just agreed with Ronin), she will be stressed so to help ease the stress the night before the wedding get her some flowers and a cheesy card (woman love cheesey romantic crap even after your married), it will help ease the stress and even further seal the deal.

Congratulations.

No advice from me. Any time Lex Luthor gets to marry Lois Lane, he needs no advice.

My advice is to not take any from people who haven't been married. Talk to an older couple who have been married 30+ years and get their advice.

Good luck and do your best to keep her happy!

you could postpone the wedding and have a 19 year engagement like Irv. when are you going to tie the knot, Irv?

September. In Vegas.

Lex_Luthor
05-25-2012, 12:51
The more preparation and planning we have to do, and people to please, I can definitely see the lure for going to Vegas. I could have already had a new toy too.

It's easier said than done. But the wedding day is about you two(mostly her). So don't care about pleasing anyone else.

Lex_Luthor
05-25-2012, 13:02
It's mostly me convincing her of that very thing.

"Honey, this is OUR wedding, not your mom's. She had her chance already."

We're still having all the stress of pleasing people, just in Vegas. Still cheaper for us. Worried about family that doesn't know how to shop for deals though. I think we got air and hotel for 7 people for what some of my family is paying for two people...

First off you are always wrong no matter what. Also I do not know if it is this way with all women but my wife always tells me what to do like I am a mindless idiot, so just prepare for this. And of course the basics like not forgetting your anniversary or her birthday, or pretty much any day that you know to be important to your wife. Congratulations I hope you will be as happy as me and all of the other married guys on here.

Almost 39 years here and my wife reminds me almost daily how good I have it.

Good luck.

One bit of advice, just remember, nobody is perfect. That is what I tell her almost daily. lol

Its not like mine is trying to be bossy or a B****, I think is a part of the whole maternal instinct thing. I Agree get use to it. Marriage is tough sometimes but the good far out way the bad.

Congrats buddy! I'll go ahead and add my advice, too. Get good at being vague but sounding specific when apologizing. I love my wife and our marriage, but sometimes she's mad at me and I have no idea why. So I say something like, "Baby, I'm sorry I made you upset. Sometimes I just don't realize/think of/understand (insert situation here). I don't know what I'm apologizing for, but when she's happy I'm happy (usually).

Best wishes to both of you!
