View Full Version : Aurora men take Denver Diner parking spot with pistols drawn
Two Aurora men are facing felony charges that allege they used gunfire to get a parking spot at the Denver Diner last month.
Court documents state a 31-year-old woman was standing in a parking spot at the dining spot at West Colfax Avenue and Speer Boulevard about 2 a.m. on April 15 when three men drove up in a black Mercedes.
She told them she was holding it for her mother-in-law, and two of the three men got angry, and then both pulled out pistols and pointed them at her, according to the police account.
Idus Marshall, 26, then allegedly squeezed off a shot at the woman that "narrowly missed" her and hit the restaurant's wall behind her, according to police affadavit.
Then she moved, and the three men took the parking spot, got out and went inside the restaurant, the woman told police.
The driver, Lamar Robertson, 27, faces a charge of felony menacing, and Marshall is charged with attempted murder, attempted first-degree assault, felony menacing, discharge of a firearm and a crime of violence.
Police impounded the Mercedes and found a spent shellcasing in the parking lot, a scar on the restaurant wall and two pistols, including one on the floorboard of Mercedes "in plain view," and about 40 rounds of ammunition, according to the police affidavit.
Court records indicate neither man has a serious court record.

WTF... Hoodrats. Shame somebody did not unload on the asshats and close the case on the spot. Of course making sure they were shooting in a safe direction and would have no collateral damage.
Who 'holds' a parking spot..
Rather than shoot at her, and such.. take the damn spot.
I bet she never 'holds' a spot again.

If you remember this is the same Denver Diner that the DPS was charged with police brutality...
I stick to Pete's Kitchen if I'm drunk and hungry after dark
What is the definition of "irony" again?

I've been to the Denver Diner at 2 in the morning quite a few times. Based on my past experiences, this doesn't surprise me at all.

Walk? It is hard for these lazy large folks I see now a days in Denver... they could use the exercise.
Some people take those handicap parking spaces seriously.
or
I'm glad the story didn't mention the ARFCOM, NRA, CO-AR15 stickers on the car.
or
How else were they supposed to let the female Valet know that they were ready to park their whip.
Real people in real life...who needs TV and movies : )
Be safe.
Is the Denver Diner THAT good?
Might have to try it out some time. Will definitely have the dual .50s mounted on the roof of the car though. :D

It's OK, but at 3AM, your choices are limited. No Waffle House in Denver.

Denver Diner is about the worst of everything.
Pete's Kitchen and Breakfast King have better food.
Tom's Diner is where you go for the real freaks. Also, really good malts.

Has anyone noticed the "Thank you DPD and SWAT" banner hanging over Pete's Kitchen? I eat there when it is late, but I'm more likely to go a few blocks east to Pete's Greek Town Cafe during normal people time. It almost reminds me of diners back east. The Omonia Bakery across the street next to the Gyro Place is one of the best bakeries we've found in Denver.
Face it, after 3AM, anything can happen. Stir in a little alcohol, mix with a little mental health issues, shake up some OWS insanity, and the wee hours are just a hare's breath away from anarchy. It makes me nostalgic for my time on the midnight shift.
Be safe.

Pete's Kitchen after midnight is a great place for a late night meal if your idea of great entertainment is watching uniformed DPD bring in their hooker "dates".

Going anywhere to eat off of Colfax after the bars let out is asking for trouble.
Unfortunately those twits give a bad name to others who are responsible citizens who own guns and/or have a CCW. I hate Denver Post as they give very simple info. Were they legal CCW holders did they carry illegally........what about the third guy???
I hate Downtown Denver and avoid the place like the plague...............
Parking downtown is horrible, I had parked downtown a couple times to find people double parking on me and twice, once to me and once to my buddy some jackass's took my winch cable on my Jeep and strapped it around a pole hoping I back out and not notice it. Unfortunately years of walk-around checks on my equipment as standard procedure it was caught, fawkers..................

If they had been CCW permit holders, it would have been national news.
If they had been CCW permit holders, it would have been national news.
The Denver Post article didn't say whether they were CCW holders or not, or if they legally owned. Too little info and the anti gun community rolls with it.
People who dont own guns associate idiots like that to us who own and are responsible.

I am assuming the news account got this correct (big assumption) but idiots like that are walking poster children for the Brady Bunch. Morons need to watch fewer Michael Bay movies and ask their relatives for a bunch of soap on a rope.

Criminals carry guns too. They always have and always will. Criminals have no regard for the brady bunch laws... Maybe in the land of narnia, but not in the real world.
I'm surprised the D-post is still in business.

We don't get any newspapers, but I do pick up The Onion whenever I am in town eating at one of the above mentioned fine dining establishments : )
