Visibility is down to about 2 or 3 miles in Bailey due to heavy smoke from fires in NM and AZ. We have all the windows closed but it smells like we have a campfire going in the house.

Wife said the smoke was so thick around Windy Point this morning it looked like heavy fog.

Forest fires suck...even though it's nature's way of taking out some of the trash.

Pretty hazy near Elizabeth right now as well and you can definitely smell the smoke.

Everybody fire up the grille at the same time??

I haven't kept up on the wheather out there but its probably from brush fires sparking up from being so dry.

Most of the front range smoke is coming up from NM. There is a new fire around Montrose thats bringing smoke into the western counties.

Not a fun day in the mountains. I took some pic of the peaks (or where the peaks should be) but didn't bring in the download cable.

Neither see nor smell smoke down here just outside of Trinidad at about 11:00AM today but the surface winds are really nasty.

Sorry guys, I had the smoker going all week long doing 64 pounds of pork butts for the daughters graduation party tomorrow. Guess the wind blew to the south. All kidding aside, I have a feeling that it's going to be a major fire season this year

I just got back from town. Westbound I-70 and I couldn't see the foothills until I got to about Kipling.

On Tuesday down here in NM (near White Sands), the winds shifted blowing the smoke from the Whitewater-Baldy Fire (currently 82k acres) towards us. My fiancee woke me up in the middle of the night thinking our house was on fire. The smoke was absolutely horrible and on Wednesday, it blocked out the sun entirely so it got rather dark around 4pm.

I'm on another work shift and have access to GOES satellite imagery, it is very obvious where the smoke from that fire is blowing. Wish i could upload it, but can't right now. Its a little shocking to be able to see the smoke from that fire from a satellite in space, but when things like this get big enough its possible.

Going to be a very bad forest fire season for us down here, hoping there aren't any fires near the observatory like last year.

No...but I wasn't really looking. And it was work related. No way I'd go down there if I wasn't gettin' paid! Time and a half I might add.
