Talk to the principal and see why it was taken. Then lodge a complaint with the district about your childs right to free speech infringed.

Do you have a copy of the school district's dress code and appearance policy? See what is and is not covered and make a decision based on that, because you can be certain that some attorney somewhere signed off on that policy. That alone does not make it enforceable, but it does mean that the school district has at least taken the first step in drawing the line over what they are willing to defend in any lengthy, expensive court civil rights case.

In Adams12, kids are not allowed to wear camouflage of any type, not even that pink ACU pattern (no idea where you are hiding with that on).

Pictures of guns are "hot button" issues in most school districts. It may not be right, but that is the world we live in.

Personally I long for the days when they start basic firearm safety and marksmanship training in elementary schools. I will not be holding my breath.

I would bet the school has a no gun images policy. If so you have no options.

Would it fall under the "0" gun tolerance policy Colorado has in place?

Its not a fucking gun,its a sticker.I bet if it was a Obama sticker it would be ok.Or a gay pride, cause you have to be tolerant. There is nothing saying you can't have a image of a gun in the schools code of conduct?

You have no idea how bad the schools are down here. It's no wonder most of the people have no common sense and the kids are lacking... It's horrible at the college in the math and english program. I was taking the class above the basic courses in both and my 8 year old was doing my math for me that other students in my class were having problems with. The english professor was schooled by me many times and admitted in class that since he has started teaching at the college "he has learned so much more", I dropped the retards class the next day. I hate to think what the "basic" classes were like. "Ok guys, this is the alphabet..." Oh... and don't get me started on the business professors class.......

Anyway, my point before remembering the idiots that teach the gen ed courses at the college, was that the schools suck big here. Having a weird principal is just the tip of the iceberg...

Already working on it, found out the school is thinking about changing the pick ax to a shovel on the Miners mascot.Since most of them will be ditch diggers anyways so I find that ok.

You think most of the people around here are qualified to operate a shovel?

Broken, my guess would be that it is an image of a gun and the zero tolerance policy includes that. be glad all they did was take away the binder and not attempt to expel your kid.

There is an idea, make an Obama sticker with guns and rainbow colored guns all over it.

Welcome to the Liberal bastion known as "Public Education" Ian...
You can cheerfully look forward to:
Celebrating mediocrity
Celebrating homosexuality
Celebrating "Global Warming"
No respect of God (unless your God is Allah)
Not playing any form of contact sport
Not being allowed to win
A 22 year old lesbian knowing what is best for YOUR child
A bureaucrat knowing what food is best for YOUR child
Having liberal ideology drilled into their heads
Not being allowed to settle a score "old school"

Home schooling.
The only hope for our youth unless we open affordable private schools that say FO and D to the above.

This.... It is what we do. It is a sacrifice on some levels, but the good outweigh the bad. Check into Colorado Calvert Academy. Great program. My daughter has made it to the state spelling bee finals 2 years in a row, and she is only 11. She has 4 more years to compete. The program has been great for her.

Maybe "home school" your youngsters or perhaps some on line schooling. I am amazed that pens and pencils are still allowed down here since they could possibly be used to goose or stab someone. Boy, times have sure changed from good to very bad.
