Yup, this is me in 1955, that is 57 years ago and 57 pounds lighter. Joined the U.S. Army for a 36 month enlistment to learn to be a small arms repairman. Picture taken at Aberdeen Proving Grounds, MD. Joined the Army specifically to obtain this particular MOS (421.10) Those were some good days! OH yeah, that's an M2 Carbine.

Since when do you wear your Kakies for actual work ? Where are your fatigues ? Or did they still call them dungarees back then ? ;)

Nope, I was just a clean living young man back in those days. ;-)))

I noticed that too. You gotta remember, this guy isn't in his 20's. He isn't the most tech-savy person out there. If you look you can see the reflection of an old guy taking a picture of the picture. :-)

We called them fatigues. Normally wore fatigues to these classes but I was TOLD to dress this way because of some PR picture taking and they wanted a very clean looking young man for the picture. Aha.

Yeah I know, just giving an old man a hard time, it's what I do :)

I did not notice the reflection.

Bob,

Very cool photo, Love the M2 carbine. My grandpa carried an M1 carbine in WWII and it saved his butt a few times.
