View Full Version : 1911 grip screws and loctite
I replaced the wood grips with aluminum ones and now the grip screws like to work loose. I guess the old wood ones hugged the screws a bit and kept them from vibrating loose. Can I put loctite on the grip screws or is that a no no? Any other ways to keep the screws tight?

Only if you don't mind the grip screw bushings coming out next time you try to remove the grips.
Maybe you could find a small lock washer to put beneath the screws? Of course that might cause the bushings to screw out too. Hmm. Do you think small o-rings might work?
I'll give the lock washers a try. Thanks for the info.

Use "O" rings, if I recall #60 "O" rings, most hardware stores carry them.

I use blue loctite on my grip screws. As long as the bushings are staked properly or also loctited it doesn't cause any problems.
