Each evening right at 9:30 PM, we see a satellite quickly passing directly overhead. There are numerous web sites listing various satellites and their passing times for certain locations but those web sites are way too difficult for some of us folks to comprehend. Anyone here able to tell me precisely which of these birds pass over 37'10.232 and 104'30.3903 moving South to North at 9:30 PM.
No big deal, just curious watching this particular one passing overhead nightly.
Also, wondering when the ISS passes over us in the darkness of night at the long/lat listed above???
I don't have an answer for you but please don't mess with it.
It's probably the satellite for my DirecTV. :-)

Looking at the time, brightness and sats available I would pick this one. http://www.heavens-above.com/PassSummary.aspx?satid=27386&lat=37.17673&lng=-104.55688&loc=Unspecified&alt=0&tz=MST

It does not move relative to your position. ;) Oh for the days of Galaxy 5.

Jerry, I have checked that site out just a couple days ago because it's to be one of the very best sites of this nature. Still couldn't come up with the ID of "my" bird?

Well, that makes sense.
If I can't fix it with a really big hammer I really don't understand it. ;-)
there is an APP that allows you to track the ISS. pretty amazing to see it going by during the day.

One of our favorite past times is to sit in the hot tub, enjoy an adult beverage, and watch the sats go overhead at night. Sometimes it's a regular satellite super-highway.
But I can't offer any help that hasn't been suggested.

If heavens-above does not have a listing for the satelite it is a satalite that you are not supposed to know what it is.
Put on your tinfoil hat when it passes.
There is a ham radio app that track satallites but its for linux-they probably have one for windows as well.

If it's moving South to North (or North to South for that matter), it's probably weather or surveillance. There are some comm satellites that do that (in a molinaya orbit; XM radio does this if I recall), but the precision of timing (everyday at 9:30) leads me to believe it's one of the others.

You'll just need a bigger hammer, or a method to deliver said hammer to a LEO (Low Earth Orbit in this case, not Law Enforcement Officer) [ROFL1]
I check this site every now and then for ISS flyovers.

Last night (Tue 29th) I watched three zoom over between 9:30PM and 9:40PM.
The moon was so bright and that made it much more difficult to seem them clearly.
Record the serial number on it and we can look it up.

Thanks, now just loan me that ultra high power laser telescope that you apparently have access to.[Tooth]
