So I picked up a Noveske Chainsaw lower the other day. The "Chainsaw" part just means that it is cosmetically blemished, but otherwise OK. I gotta say, the lower is sweet, and it is really tough to see any blemishes unless you look really close. And the $$$ savings is pretty nice too. Totally worth getting, IMO.
I don't know how all of them look or what other companies will let pass their inspections, but if you have the chance to pick one up, you might want to consider it.
I'd post better pics, but my lower is currently with my SOT [insert devilish laugh smilie]

I picked up a Gen 1 chainsaw, very nice lowers. I like the Gen 2 magwells as well.[Beer]

Very nice! Is the light rollmark the "blemish"?

No, it had some very, very small scratches and a tiny dent somewhere on it. Honestly, it looked brand new or possible as if it's been to the range maybe once or twice. If it wasn't marked as their chainsaw model, you'd probably never now the difference. On the bottom of the trigger guard it's got a little picture of a chainsaw like this:

The Noveske symbol is pretty visible, it just doesn't show up well in the picture. On the opposite side of the magazine well is the manufacturer and their location, and no caliber marking.
Like I said, I don't know what qualifies as "blemished" for other manufacturers, but if you wanna save a few bucks on an otherwise expensive lower, I would go with the blemished one. I saved about $75 on this one.

No problem. Just make sure you shop around, as price differences on the blemished lowers can vary by $50 between different dealers.
BCM sells blemished lowers too, FYI. I've heard nothing but goodness about those guys.

I was worried about going with a chainsaw but I can't really find any blemishes and once it's all together it didn't matter anymore.

What kind of trigger is in your Gen2 Rooskibar?

I'm gonna take a stab and say one of these:

But I generally do not know what I'm talking about. [Tooth]
We'll have to wait for Rooskibar to chime in.

Winner! It's the 3 SD 3 Gun from Geissele.

It's got an amazing trigger pull. Something off a 1911 in terms of lightness.

Looks like a bunch of small scratches or dents on the mag well. Oh well, looks like character to me.
It's kinda like buying a new car. They should almost come with a cracked window, that way you don't get pissed when it happens as soon as you leave the dealership.
Nice setup, here is my Gen 1 chainsaw lower, obvious flaws!

But like you say once it's together it doesen't matter!

That was weird... I saw your original post and then commented on it, but when I clicked "submit reply" your post was gone. Now it's back! I thought maybe I accidentally flagged your post or something, but I guess you were just editing it.
It's just finish, no depth to them at all, I didn't order the lower, bought it off of another forum and could of passed on it but I figured it was no big deal.

I don't think those flaws are obvious at all. I actually really like that chainsaw logo as I think it adds some character!
Yeah I am not concerned at all, just on most of the Chainsaw stuff it's hard to even find a flaw.

I must resist the urge to buy. This is a great option for a guy like me since every time I take my guns out they get new scratches and I really dont care since I have no intentions of selling them.

Man where are you guys buying these at? I gotta have one!

Gunbroker has two different gen 2 Chainsaw's listed for about a hundred less than retail. You can also call or E-mail Noveske direct, they are great to deal with.
I got mine from Cold Hand Arms - they aren't the quickest shippers in the world but they do forewarn you of that before purchase. $203 shipped.
RPM does yours show any obvious flaws like mine?
Does anyone know of any local? Thanks
When I talked to Mike at Lock and load at the Tanner show he said that he has some on order. "MOA" on this site.

SWEEEEEET!!!

I got mine from rifelgear.com. Rainier arms has them sometimes. Don't know about local.

Not like yours. The "flaws" on mine are so minute as to be a joke - don't get me wrong however, I appreciate the quality control and what passes for acceptable with these companies. Yours is like a new car with a scratch, the nervous anticipation of the inevitable first one is over. Buy ammo, use up, repeat.
Anyway, these guns are meant to be used hard and often. I'm all for gun care and maintenance where appropriate but if you want a gun to worry about finish flaws, buy a Mannlicher stocked rifle or any number of high-dollar over/under or side by side bespoke shotguns.
Does anyone know of any local? Thanks
This guy is in Thornton and occasionally carries Noveske lowers, not sure if any are seconds (Chainsaw).
