View Full Version : 2012 Mile High Showdown
When - Sept 14-16
Where - Hosted by Colorado Rifle Club Practical Shooters (CRCPS)
The 2012 Mile High Showdown is a Level II USPSA Pistol match consisting of 11 stages requiring a minimum of 254 rounds. This will be a “Trophy Match” and Awards will be distributed per USPSA Guidelines. Current USPSA membership is required to enter event. Entry will be limited to the 200 competitors (80 on Friday, 120 on Sat/Sun). Competitors can choose to shoot the whole match on Friday, or shoot in a two day format on Saturday / Sunday. Self Service Squadding via USPSA.org will be used for this match. You will be e-mailed an entry confirmation along with the Self Squading information once your entry is received and processed. Entries without an e-mail may be squadded by match personnel.
Match details can be found at the below website. I have also attached the entry form to this post for easy access. Come on out and have some fun at the 2012 Mile High Showdown!!!

The match is now up on the USPSA website for Self Squading. You will be emailed your access details when we receive your entry.
The Stages are currently being reviewed by NROI for Level 2 approval. Once they get approved we will post the stages on the match website.

Actually, you won't receive notice once we get your entry. You will get notice after we have verified your USPSA number, entered you into the system and upload the database to USPSA.org, provided you gave us the correct e-mail address.
The first batch of entries have been entered on the USPSA Self-Service Squading page. I have listed a link to the Self-Service Squading page below. You will have the choice of shooting the whole match on Friday or shoot it in a two day format on Saturday/Sunday. Get signed up soon so you can squad with your friends.

Entries are starting to roll in. So far we have 31 entries for the match and keep getting more every week. As stated before we are leveraging USPSA Self Squadding so you can squad with your friends. We are limiting this match to the first 200 entries so if you are interested in attending I would suggest you get your entry in soon.
We are very close to getting our USPSA Level II Match approval completed. Once that gets done we will post the stages on the match website so you can check out the fun and challenging stages we have planned for this match.
Since this is a trophy match we are working towards making some really cool "Trophies" for the winners. We will be using the below awards structure which is dependent upon how many competitors are in each Division, Class, and Category.
Division Awards
1st Min Competitors 5
2nd Min Competitors 10
3rd Min Competitors 15
4th Min Competitors 20
5th Min Competitors 25+
Class Awards
1st Min Competitors 3
2nd Min Competitors 6
3rd Min Competitors 9+
Category Awards
1st Min Competitors 3
2nd Min Competitors 6
3rd Min Competitors 9+
NROI approved the match as L2 today (Thanks Kevin).
Here are the stages:
There are about 15 slots left in the match for Friday. There are plenty for the Sat/Sun slots.
We have a little over a month until the match starts. If you are going to attend get your application filled out and sent in soon so you can participate in the fun!!!
I wanted to let everyone know that we will be placing the order for Trophies on August 24th. We are basing what trophies we will need on who is entered in the match on that date. If you are on the fence about attending the match or simply procrastinating on sending in your entry for whatever reason I would highly suggest that you get your entry sent in ASAP. We can’t delay the order of Trophies any later than August 24th to ensure that they get made and shipped back to us in time for the match. If we get a bunch of last minute entries after this August 24th trophy order deadline there may be some shooters who may not get a trophy they earned during the awards ceremony at the match. If you enter the match past the August 24th trophy order deadline and end up NOT getting a trophy at the match I don’t want to hear any whining, because you have been warned. We will do our best to order and ship out the “Missing” trophies after the match but there will obviously be a delay in getting that completed due to how long it takes to get the trophies made and shipped. Please save us all the headache and extra work by getting your entry sent in before the August 24th Trophy Order deadline.
There are only a few squad slots left for Friday. There are still plenty of Sat/Sun squad slots available. Get your entry in as soon as possible to secure your squading preference.
4 Friday slots remain unclaimed as of now. All entries received as of today have been uploaded onto USPSA.org.
We will be selling Breakfast and Lunch at the match on Friday, Saturday, and Sunday [Beer]
Breakfast will be available for $5 each morning.
Breakfast will be a 1/2lb Breakfast burrito including your choice of bacon or chorizo with eggs, potato, cheese & served with cold Orange Juice
Lunch will be available for $5 each day. The Lunch Menu is as follows....

Are entries still being taken? Is being a current USPSA member the only prerequisite to compete? I've shot one USPSA match before I became a member last week. I will have 2-3 more matches under my belt before the Showdown.
madmike283> Yes, we are still accepting entries. Send it in ASAP. The only "Requirement" is that you are a USPSA member. If you have already attended a local USPSA club match you should be good to go for the Mile High Showdown.

I checked the forecast and its looking like the weather is going to be awesome for this coming weekend. I know that we can’t really put too much stock into weather forecasts further out than a couple of days here in Colorado, but so far its looking like its going to be awesome shooting weather. Right now its calling for mid 70’s on Friday and low 80’s on Sat/Sun with zero chance of rain.
See you guys this weekend and good luck!!!

I'm stoked. Can't wait to shoot!
If you want to shoot and have not sent in your application...bring the application, a check and proof of USPSA membership to the range with you Saturday morning.
There will be walk-up slots open for Saturday/Sunday, but NOT for Friday as it is full.
Stages were up by about 4, Charlie hung paper and tweaked until about 7pm. They should be fun and challenging!

Thanks to all the people that made the match a possibility and success this weekend. I had a great time at my first Level II match. I had a fun squad full of production shooters.
Thanks Charlie, Mark, Jerry, and all the others. It was a great time.
The match went really smooth due to all of the hard work of the match staff and the shooters. The results have been posted on USPSA website and I have listed the direct link to it below. I hope that everyone had fun shooting the match. I know I did [Beer]

Thanks to everyone that came out and shot the Mile High at CRC. I would be personally grateful to those who enjoyed the match to take the time to send a note of thanks to three entities in addition to the staff, sponsors and shooters of this match.
Colorado Rifle Club. The board actually asked us to come in and start action sports there. In the last 24 months, they have spent money on shade covers, sheds, and equipment and supported the start-up of USPSA pistol and Multi-Gun, Steel Challenge and a precision rifle match: http://www.crci.org/Home/Contact/tabid/583/Default.aspx
MGM Targets. Travis and Mike helped us out with a lot of steel and gave us a break on the price as we were getting started: http://www.mgmtargets.com/contact/index.php
National Shooting Sports Foundation. With over $22K in support in 2011, a lot of the $ for steel came direclty from a NSSF grant. http://nssf.org/industry/contactNSSF.cfm
We are planning at least 2, and probably 3 major matches at this faciltiy for 2013, including the Noveske Area 2 USPSA Multi-Gun Championship.
We hope you will be back to join us.
It was a great match and I enjoyed the stages. I made high D! I was the only D, but what the heck... :)
