I had signed up a while back - but the big bit bucket in the sky decided that I was not worthy.

I re-registered, re-begged to access the site - and now I can post.

Current project is trying to build a ar-15 upper based on a ultra light weight barrel / free float hand guard.

Now to figure out just what CMMG parts I need to be able to afford to shoot on the AR platform.

I will try to make sure that I scrape my boots off after coming in from the field before posting.

I am currently hiding out in Colorado Springs.

If anyone knows of a good source to buy casting lead in Colorado Springs - feel free to share that info with me.

Welcome. Sounds like a sweet project, I'm building one similar, but whole rifle.

There was a large data loss a little while ago, and I suspect your account was lost during that event. To make it worse, we had troubles with the email notifications from the server, that were fixed today. You likely never received notice that the account was approved. We are working away behind the scenes to make sure everything is running as it should again.

I am slowly working on two projects - the 22lr ultra light setup because 556 ammo is not cheap - and another in 300 blackout - because 556 ammo cost too little. [LOL]

Welcome! Have you tried the new Daniel Defense MFR for your lightweight build? I have the 12.0 and it is very light and feels very comfortable!

Invest in the best barrel and trigger assembly that you can afford. You'll never regret the cost when you're done.

The upper was / is going to be based on a Rock River - assuming they ever fill the back order. Why Rock River - they don't have m4 ramps - and the ultra light weight barrel has no need of that feature.

My next choice is a hard look at Mega arms just because I do like their billet receivers. Well the looks, not the price - maybe their forged versions would still be affordable with a good sense of style.

The trigger will be an ALG style - the best ya can get for under 75 bucks.
