So I went and bought the bottom metal for my savage 10FP from CDI and while I was at it got 1 10rd AI mag. I got it all together and was running some dud .308 through it and at least 2 rounds don't extract all the way I.E. rack the bolt back and it pulls the round all the way to the rear and dumps it on the mag. I happens with both dud and snap caps. Any idea's? And no am not baby-ing it, am racking it just like I did before.

Are these "dud" rounds with projectile? If so they are too long to accurately eject. Try it with empty casings.

Mine will do this with snap-caps, but complete rounds will extract properly. I have also had no issues with spent rounds at the range. Are they getting caught on the flont lip of the mag and knocking them of the extractor?

I will give it a shot with empty cases. thanks guys
If you cycled these same dummies before with no issues the only thing with changing the bottom metal that would affect ejection will be the action screws . First place I'd look is for interference between the bolt and the rear screw . If the screw is sticking up on the tang and hitting the bolt it can cause issues .

Great thought and your absolutely correct. If there is a difference in thickness of the bottom metal or they are counterbored deeper they may interfere.
Good thinking C.

I ran some empty .308 brass and it kicked them out good. I will look at the rear screw and see if its hitting anything
