I would be dropping the "free speech" card big-time, with a little "I'll have to contact my attorney about this...." thrown in for good measure just to get him/her thinking about a giant hammer coming down.
Maybe bring a copy of this news article to show the principle to jam it up the lib-tards ass.
RMGO is not an illegal organization. I know that some schools prohibit illegal stuff from being on t-shirts, etc. "Bong hits for Jesus" was banned somewhere once.
Ahhh, here's the link: Bong Hits for Jesus (http://articles.cnn.com/2007-06-25/justice/free.speech_1_principal-deborah-morse-banner-case-school-policy?_s=PM:LAW)
I would make a giant issue out of this if it was my kid. I wouldn't pay 20 grand for a lawsuit because I barely have $20, but I'd raise some hell.

When you go into the meeting place a tape recorder or digital recorder on the table, in plain sight. Do it before you sit down.
It will entirely change the tone of the meeting. Keep your cool and base your talking points on fact.
Don't take it personal, this is business.
Leave the emotions outside.

It is funny how something that small can change someones tone isn't it? Sorry if it has been mentioned but what grade is your son in? I have feeling the RMGO sticker probably falls under "zero tolerance" policy and you will not win in this case. I am not that old and can remember in elementary when we could not even draw guns or play "cops and robbers" because we our hands were the "guns."

Zero tolerance is BS. They have taken it way out of control. Stickers are not dangerous. I'm not that old either but I did carry a pocket knife to school EVERY SINGLE DAY...and even used it as a tool when needed. Hell, I can remember times when teachers would ask the students if they could use their knifes. We brought water guns to school all the time...something that would get you suspended now.
Zero tolerance rules are out of line and without a doubt are partially responsible for demonizing guns in our society from the ground up. After all, the kids are our future and if you want to change the future, you do it with the kids. That applies to this other kid's t shirt too...

When I was in school, not to long ago (pre-1999 fyi) we were not allowed to wear any professional sports clothing or items in the school. Not allowed to have any weapons on campus and were not allowed to wear certain brands (British knights shoes). Reduced gang violence on school property by 40% if I remember correctly.
While I get that we should all have a certain amount of freedom, kids should not be afraid at school no matter what their background. If one child with a sticker of an "evil black rifle" takes away from another students ability to learn (via fear or distraction) then it should be removed. No this does get blow out of proportion far to often but I understand the base logic.

Male students wearing brightly colored pastels distracts from my son's ability to learn.
Female students wearing Pants distracts from my son's ability to learn.
religious symbols distract from my son's ability to learn.
National flags, political agendas, Testing, Conformity, and rules all distract from my son's ability to learn.

True story: I was almost suspended/expelled because I bought a $.50 "gun" quarter machine key chain from a local pizza hut and brought with me to school when I was in elementary. Another student told a teacher I had a gun in my pocket. It was on a key chain and MAYBE 3/8'' big. IIRC, I was in 2nd or 3rd grade?
I believe the zero tolerance policy is BS too but unfortunatly we/the students have to follow it. I wonder if he would have got the same reaction had it been a anti-gun sticker.
BS! I remember my friend got suspended on two occasions in High School- one was when he wore an NRA tee shirt- that's it, it just had the NRA logo on the breast, about 3". The second was when he wore this:
http://www.righthook.com/shirtimages/expertsagree_black_closeup.gif
His main argument against this behavior was pretty funny: "Oh I get suspended for wearing a shirt making fun of Nazi's but kids can wear iron crosses everywhere [Independent Skate Company]. Who wore Iron Crosses? Oh yeah, the SS..."
I hate the whole school and freedom of speech thing, I've seen kids wearing marijuana shirts and get away with it, but the second one wears realtree (yes it happened to my friends son) they get "warned." And God forbid you wear anything pro-gun... [Mad]

I don't care what a student wears or who they pray to.
The biggest obstacle to a childs learning is uneducated educators and a nanny state thinking they know best for the child.
Never before have their been so many compelling arguments for home schooling.

Ahem, I also need to mention, because I encountered it a lot in school, even college- Stupid educators that TEACH their political beliefs instead of warning "this next part is only my opinion." If I hear one more teacher say something that is educating their political views I will call them out!

I guess I got a lot to look forward to when my first starts school in a few yrs!
I grew up in the sticks of northern Wis, and we could pretty anything we wanted! I graduated in '98.
My hunting buddy and I used to skip school every morning in the fall to slay the green heads, always had a shot gun in my truck. They even put a picture of the 2 of us in the year book hiding behind a car with our shot guns pretending to be dodging the principle on our way out to the swamp! We were in the school parking lot when the took they picture.
Good luck with getting the binder scout!

I know what you mean Tin- my freshman year in High School I built a copy of the Modena Rifle, a tomahawk and a couple of Bowie knives in Industrial Arts.
We had a couple of guys that were avid bird hunters that brought their shotguns in for the teacher to look at. We lived on the border of Arapahoe/Jeffco and a bunch of guys had rifles in racks on their trucks. Half of them never locked their trucks either.

I'm a bit older, and grew up in Western NY state, but in high school (mid-70's) we had a (wait for it) RIFLE TEAM! Yup, I'd carry my single shot target .22 rifle to school, put it in my locker and after school, head down to the basement where the range was! There were 5 of us on the team, and we did pretty well. Had one kid who was excellent and he went on to do great things in the sport!
How times have changed... Good luck with the school system.

Awesome. When I went to school they relied on fights to keep the bullying down. Now that they completely got rid of any type of school yard justice they wonder why bullying is a problem. Idiots.

Lest we not forget, and I've seen this first hand- Zero Tolerance is effing stupid! I had a kid come up to me once, shove me, then proceed to hit me with the intent that he would keep hitting me, so I fought back... for my troubles, in a fight I didn't start, I got a 3-day suspension from school. My dad tried to argue against this but the school just claimed "zero tolerance" and wouldn't budge. What was I supposed to do? Let the kid beat me to a pulp in front of my peers, thus damaging my social standing at an all too important time in my social development? We wonder why our younger generation is so fucked up right now...

My daughter will NOT attend the steaming sewer of liberal indoctrination that is the public school mess when it is time for her to go. This is generally how it works for most work places, if you fight back you are instantly fired. See they were trying to prepare you for the real world.

I got a three day suspension for getting hit with a handful of corn when a food fight broke out lol.
When I was in 3nd grade I took my .30-.30 to school for show and tell. No one panicked and all was well. This was in California mind you.
Now everyone has lost their ever loving minds.

Uniforms are not the answer. The cool kids still have cooler uniforms. THe haves still have and the have nots still have not, but now have to struggle with buying expensive uniforms. Those uniforms end up with patched knees and faded colors while the rich kids get new.
Taking away individuality and expression does not work, people are individuals and express themselves anyway. It's not basic training, it's school.
Back on topic, I don't see how a rmgo sticker can violate anything. I'd run through his history book and find a few pics of guns to point out when you go to meet the principal, there are always pictures of guns in there.
