With elections over...I forgot to renew my CCW.
I was cleaning out my wallet....it expired 1-7-07!
I need to get it renewed...I planning a road trip at the end of the month and don't like to travel without my piece.
Anybody else forget to renew?
I'm still good until 2010. I think you just pay a renewal fee the first time. And after the next 5 years you'll need to take another gun safety class plus the renewal fee. Is that right?
whew! I had to go look.. I'm good till '09 [pirate]

According to El Paso County Sheriff's web site....if you have had a permit...you are grandfathered and no further training is required.
CBI fee $15
Renewell fee $50
Have to be money orders.....
I guess I know what I'm doing this week.

When I got mine in Teller County, the sheriff refused to make them good for the full 5 years. He said since he may not be sheriff after the next election he was making them expire in January. He said if the full 5 years were not up, we just come in to the office in January and they would issue a new one for the remaining time with the current sheriff's signature. I got my new one a few weeks ago before my road trip to Texas. I told the deputy I needed to run to El Paso to wrangle up a wayward child so she processed it on the spot. She said nromal turn around was a few hours. They also switched to a newer more standard type card. It expires in February of 2010. Karl.
wth? I thought it was standardized and that was that... I'd look into that kinda crap.. what a bastard.

they sent me a reminder in the mail 2 months in advance or i would have forgot too. it took about two weeks to get my new one in. the paper they sent me said to expect long delays because everyone in el paso county expired in a 60 day period. i think its because of the elections for sherriff making them expire at the end of andersons term and we all renewed at once back then

If so that's illegal and he could get in hot water. I'd ask the state AG to inform him of the law - in a very nice, polite way of course. You do need to get those forms signed off on, after all.

Yup, I was pretty po'd too, but like you say, form 4's are at his discretion, so..... I chose not to engage in a battle over this minor issue. I mean after all, it only takes a few minutes up here (county of 10,000). Karl.
