Well, I've often heard about people getting screwed over at gun shows. Unfortunately it happened to me last weekend at the Loveland Tanner gun show. I asked the vender to see his larue mounts. He had three well used looking Larue lt110 mounts. I let him know how I see used "like new" lt-110's for sale online sometimes for $75. Due to their well used condition, he accepted $50.

After mounting it on my ar I noticed my red dot sat way left of my front sight post...weird.. and then I noticed how the whole mount shifts forward and back.

After doing some "knock off" research. I know the one i was sold is definately a knock off. I called the vendor and he said he has no reason to believe they are knock offs. He asked if I'd come to the Denver show this weekend and we'll work something out. I want a full refund, but I'm not sure what to expect.

Let the $50 go and forget about it??
Go get whatever refund I can??

Just thought Id get some of your thoughts on my situation..thanks

If he sold you a knock off, he probably knew about and went and bought the crap from a chinese shop online, or, well, it's an airsoft part. Either way, I'm going with he knew about it and is just trying to get out of it. Get your money back and tell him to knock his shit off or you will turn his ass in. [Beer]

That sucks, it'd be nice if there was more quality control at gun shows to keep the knock off crap out or at least clearly marked.

I have heard LT will replace the knock off with a real one. Call customer service and
explain the situation, may be able to help you out.

Assuming that there are LaRue markings on it.

First thing: Call Mark (512-259-1585) and tell him that you accidentally bought a knock off and that you wanted to make him aware that this guy is selling illegal "LaRue" stuff.

Mark will go off the handle, he may swear at you a bit - but get him to understand that you aren't asking him to fix it, but that you wanted to let him know that this guy is infringing on his copyright. Give him the contact info for the guy that sold the stuff to you.

Mark (or one of his minions) will handle the fun stuff from there.[Muaha]

Go down and get your money back plus the entrance fee to the show.

When you get your money back, take a picture of the vendor/sign and post it here. Perhaps we can get a sticky with a list & photos of GS vendors to aviod?

Gunoholic - Do you own any real Larue mounts? I only ask because I'm curious if you were scammed because you didn't know what a real Larue mount looks like (not your fault) or if the fakes are really that real looking (even scarier). Does your LT-110 have the 'ECOS-C' and the Larue emblem laser etched into the anodizing? If I remember right the little block on the bottom of the mount, that keeps it from shifting forward and back, should have 'LT110' machined into it as well.

Sorry you got scammed. Hopefully the vendor makes it right.

If you mounted your red dot on a beretta cx4 storm its not the mounts it the CX4. I have A.R.M.S and LaRue red dot mounts and i get back and forth play with both of them. I think the CX4's top rail is out of spec.

I wish stuff like this didn't happen at all but it's becoming a tad challenging with all the airsoft-intended items that look just like the real thing as well as some companies making two nearly identical items, one Chinese and the other made in the U.S. (the Magpul RSA & RSA PTS as but one example).

Proving the vendor knew they were fake might prove a bit difficult (and maybe he was duped as well).

Sounds like the guy did not try to blow you off, so maybe it is early to be unleashing the hounds. I would be curious if he is still flogging the same kit in Denver this weekend though.

That may be the tell tale sign... If he is still selling the mounts as genuine this weekend.

Yes I have seen many PST brands being sold as Genuine US MAGPUL, specially on e-charge you fees for everything-bay.

Like the RSA you picked up. The US MAGPUL genuine RSA uses a flat head bolt and the PST uses a allen hex. Weird subtle things. I don't get airsoft and the money spent on it.............but that is another thread.

To the original OP, take pictures and post them up here to get some thoughts on it.

To the untrained eye..i.e. myself, they look pretty darn close. Side by side with a real Larue you can tell for sure. I do have a lt-104 mount, and didnt even remeber the LT104 on the bottom of it.

On some sites posting links to other forums is taboo, but to help keep others from making this mistake a member of 1911 forum provided great pictures and details to help people spot a larue fake. Mods please delete if you are not ok with this.

Mine is identical to the fake in his pictures. Mine just looks more used.

I do plan on making his name and description known here on co ar, if I am not fully refunded. Drucker, you're right he may have had no clue. He claimed to have got them from a military friend, and he said he thinks they are real.

I'll give an update this weekend.

Well I went to back to the tanner show in Denver to get try to get my money back. The vender looked at the mount he sold me and the info I had printed from the thread in my previous post. He gave me a full refund. I'm glad he didnt give me a hard time about it. I'm still not too sure if he didnt know it was a fake. who knows... Unfortunately for the other buyers, he said he already sold the other two mounts...

glad he did the right thing...but you also need to call Mark and tell him this guy is selling fake mounts.

I would be pissed if I bought a $200 Larue mount only to find it was a cheap knockoff.

just one more reason to only buy LaRue stuff directly from LaRue or if you are going to buy used know exactly what to look for. several threads on arfcom about the fakes. same with aimpoints.

Glad you got a refund. Wonder if the guy sold it later that day as authentic?...
