It's a thread from 2009.

I have never figured out why people from one state, with very different laws, get all worked up over how guns are bought and sold in another state, with very different laws.

If you don't like the laws where you live, try to change them, move, or deal with it.

We have had the BoS discussion here on this board. IMO, the seller calls the deal and if a buyer accepts, then the deal gets done. No one else's business as long as nothing illegal takes place.

Besides that, NY state, especially upstate is much different than NYC. I don't rant about Mayor Bloomberg, because he isn't one of my elected officials. If Bloomberg chooses to spend his taxpayer's money on targeting people outside of his jurisdiction, then he can justify that to his taxpayers.

I would guess that if you are a gun owner in NY state, you would be envious of the freedom we enjoy in Colorado. The problem is the gun owners in NY state do not seem to out vote the gun control/anti-gun crowd in NY state.

Yet another reason to enjoy living in Colorado. [Beer]

I don't do a BOS Sale on a firearm for the same reason I do not do a BOS on a pair of skiis at a yard sale.
Unless there are taxes involved, why bother?

There is no more gun Registration!

Yep. Lived around Syracuse for many years. Beautiful countryside populated with lotsa assholes and liberals, and Democrats. Just try riding a motorcycle there with no helmet too. Ever watch American Chopper? Assholes like those guys are everywhere in NY. One would think that the New England states would be the most conservative of all, since that's where it all started for the USA, but it sure don't seem to be that way.

In upstate NY, if the firearm in question is a handgun, at the very minimum both parties to the sale need a valid NYS Pistol Permit and the seller needs to cross the serial number off his pistol permit, the buyer needs to add it to his. NY laws change every few years. In the 1970s you could do this on the back of the permit with a ballpoint pen, in the 1980s it was done on a separate document, nowadays I am unsure of the procedure, but some record MUST be kept of the transaction and both parties need a valid NYS pistol permit. Failure to make a record of the transaction or transfer to an individual without a permit is a felony and both parties would be prosecuted. So discussing CO private party transfers in a NY gun forum seems pretty stupid.

WHY,

A few members here feel the .gov should regulate food, sweets, allowing you to smoke in YOUR vehicle with children and on and on. So why not make stronger gun laws here???? [ROFL1][ROFL2][Rant1][Rant1]

Of course i'm and not in favor or condone the .gov telling me how, what or who i can do, in any way shape or form.

Elected official or not, Bloomberg is a total idiot. His anti-gun rhetoric is bad enough, now this?

Bloomberg's latest proposal to curb the sale of large-sized sugary drinks

And that is one of the reasons why I am moving from New York!!!!

Me and all my buds try to vote out the anti's,but it seems like a losing battle here.It is true upstate where I am at is pretty decent,we still have some decent guys here in office but there losing ground.

The people from NYC are moving up here to get away from the city but they still want to rule it like the city.
Oh my gosh-dirt roads!!! Cant have that!!!!My escalade will get dirty!!!No street lights!!!I cant see when I drive!!!!!
And so forth-[Bang]

Yup I am going to love Colorado!![Beer]And I'll be damn sure to make sure I vote against all of those type!!

why not a BOS because same reason i dont live in nyc, because i dont have to. Why would i live in a place where its from what ive been told almost impossible to have a handgun. BOS will do you no good. Thats were IF a guy has a CCW its good enough for me hes already gone through the ringer.

Hey guys! [Cheer] I really wonder how the OP found that VERY old thread (as mentioned, it's almost 3 years old) and shockingly I have changed my tune. Isn't it weird, that people can do that?

You can ask anyone I've dealt with, I'm a very big supporter of not giving out or taking in any private information that is unnecessary and pointless. I am very anti-BoS, and will not deal with someone who wants more than my signature (and even then I'm wary) when doing a private sale.

My post on that site was honest and inquisitive, and instead of being bull-headed I asked questions and got more opinions. My eyes were opened, as it were.

I know I've mentioned this many times: people in NYS handle firearms transfers vastly different from us in Colorado. They are used to being under the shackles, and extend those shackles when they are not needed. Sounds a lot like Stockholm syndrome.

Anyway, all of you who called me jackass, fucktard, idiot, can go fuck yourselves and take yourselves out back for a few rounds.

Very few people in this world Id like to see run over by a bus or trampled by a rioting crowd
or step into an elevator shaft from the 74th floor when the door malfunctions and the
elevator car is at the 4th floor or a piano miraculously falls onto them while walking down a
NYC street, but Bloomberg is one of those f*ckwads Id love to
see that happen to. [Bang][Rant1]

Coming here in vanloads from those kunt states: NY, MA, IL, CA. Lost count last week on all the vehicles I saw from IL here in Ft Collins. WTH? Quite a few with Douchebag Obeyme stickers on them too. Gonna screw it for us all. They already ruined their own states and now the will want to change ours.

Just had a dumb twat from CA as a patient complain to me about "Colorado not having enough culture". Like CA does? LA is really classy...Oakland? Class just drips out of Kalifornians asses. Like Hollywood is something to look up to?

I moved here from one of those "Kunt states". And despite the "bad wrap" we have in Mass on freedom. please remember it all started there.however, the "minority" is the "majority" at the voting booth, so douches like Duval Patrick and Martha Coakley keep getting elected

Gun ownership in the state is up, as are the number of people with CCWs (they are called LTCs there) are up. Unfortunately also up is the number of people that depend on the .gov for a check, so they vote themselves another check

We "kunts" aren't ruining your state....for the most part, those of us move here, do so because we want a better life, only to find that it's really no better....just more of the same(only with mountains). look instead at the 3rd and 4th generation of welfare babies (all native to your state), or YOUR capital that made denver a "sovereign city", or whoever made colorado the 4th highest taxed state in the nation.

I will not touch anything without a BOS as I like having a receipt for anything I buy. I will not buy anything a guy is not willing to say yeah I sold that to him on black and white. The first question I ask when buying or selling a gun is well you sign a bill of sale, if the answer is no then I move on. It is to bad it has to be that way but you just cannot trust people anymore.

A receipt is not the same as a Bill of Sale in the sense that is spoken about on here. You want a receipt with item and cost information, sure thing. You wan't to jot down personal information that is irrelevant to the sale, that's a whole different thing. Regardless of if you can trust someone or not, a Bill of Sale does not protect you from anything.
