So any good deals at the Tanner show??

No really great deals. Better selection of ammo and components than I expected, since I'd been hearing rumors of primer and powder demand going up again.

Attendance seemed a bit lighter this afternoon than the past couple of shows.

Shitty, as always. So great to see people paying $8 to get in to pay $8 more than the box of ammo cost at Walmart the previous day.

The honest sellers had primers and powder for their usual cost. I picked up my shit and bailed as fast as I could push through the crowd.

$30 a box roughly, some a little more, some a little less.

I'll be there today, tables are close to where Al is.

So any good deals at the Tanner show??not that many people witch is a refreshing change form the huge mobs the past few shows . there are plenty of deals to be had but if your trying to offset you entry fee with a 20 dollar purchase then go to sportsmans . if your trying to look and monkey with a whole bunch of cool stuff. then pay the 8 bucks and have a good time with the toys [Beer][Beer]
hope to see you there

remember a deal is what you make it . make a fair offer and most guys will take it

Any idea on primer prices?

The guy in the back corner has Wins for $125 per 5k, as he has always asked. The guy who had Tulas in January for $16 per thousand is now asking $25. Everyone else wants around $30 per k.

Well done Alxone! Many people to a gun show and expect tremendous bargains. Many are hoping to find that "steal" from someone that does not know the actual value of what they have. Most of the "dealers" set up tables to make money and not to lose money. The tables are not free for the asking and they may not make enough money to pay the table cost. Some people ask too much and some have bargains. Some tables have trinkets products unrelated to the firearm industry but those table help make the show profitable for the operater of the show.

The $8 admission is a pretty small price to pay to be surrounded by guns, ammo, and unique collectables.

Guns shows are not for everyone and some people should save their gas money and $8 admission fee for things that are more important to them.

Light crowd yesterday at 9:30ish. Was refreshing to not fight through herds. Ran in and picked up my purchases, which saved me the $7 entry fee in shipping costs.

500 Cast Bullets .45 cal 230 gr are a little expensive to ship, even locally. So I saved the entry fee there most likely.

One vendor there has a pretty good deal on once fired brass, $3.00 pound and that is cheaper than ordering from other places typically.

Picked up some plastic ammo boxes way cheaper than at sportsmans.

So I can usually get my $7 fee back in savings. Most of the time I don't worry about it and consider it entertainment of browsing all the stuff.

+1. thebolt sounds like he knows what it's like to have a table, try to sell stuff at a gunshow at a reasonable price and still make enough to take home a couple bucks.

Whenever I go to a show I allways look for parts I need .Like sight blades for an enfield #4 extractor springs, .040 sight blade-parts that you have to look at on hand to make sure there what you need and whats proper on your firearm.

A lot of guys have parts bins and the'll let you rummage through them to pick out what you need. And there fairly reosonable at the prices.
Thats at most shows I've been to I'm sure Tanner is the same way

Most of all its a good day to be out of the house and be around guns and your buds all day[Beer]-Well worth the 8 bucks in my eyes.

I picked up a cleaning mat and a cheap little bipod to snap onto the M1A. Helped out Al for a little while and got some stripper clip spoons off him.

Spent $35 all told.

It's amazing how little a gunshow has to offer when you aren't interested in AR-15 parts.

It seems like the prices are starting to creep up a bit to me. Of course I am old enough to remember when the vendors at gun shows were mostly just folks and not so many stores selling at the same price or better than bass pro or the like.

When you get here you will actually be able to not only handle a hand gun, BUT........buy it the same day w/out anyone in LE reviewing your paperwork, mulling it over than maybe approving it. Luckily you're an upstater so the guys up there sign off on target permits without much crap.

That is one of the drawbacks and keeps me from buying a gun at one.

If you dont have a valid ny pistol permit you cant even pick one up to check it out.
And sometimes the NIC check can take hours due to the volume at the show.

Ct is even worse-you have to wait 2 weeks to pick up your firearm!!!
And if the guy is from the other side of the state there goes the deal you thought you had!!Now you have to truck on up to his shop!!Defys the reason of going to the show.

Well,
Once you get to CO. And establish residency, the shock and awe in the difference in firearms laws at the local gun shows will make you cream your jeans just walking down the first isle......[ROFL1]

Edit : It will also be a wallet flattening experience.

Attendance was the lowest today I've ever seen. Good for us to look at stuff, but has to be bad for vendors. Also seemed to have an opposite effect on some of them. Being the last day and less number of customers, you would think one would try and make any sales they could. Not really. Most seemed to stick to their retail prices and appeared to care less if you walked away without buying anything. Weird...

On the flip side, many OTHER people show up looking for a good deal, not a steal, but a fair price. Not to be gouged, not to be told the price (Which happens to be the same price as Gander Mountain) is the "cash" price so add another 3-5% if you use a credit card, THEN be told that on top of that fee, its another 10 bucks to do the background check. Really? Charge 10 bucks to do a background check that doesn't cost that FFL anything or a database that is already paid for with your tax dollars? I get it for those places that do background checks as a service, but from the same place you buy the firearm that has a logon to the CBI database to charge you?

And prices should be less expensive, there isn't the overhead associated with a table at the show compared to a box store with its rent, employee salaries, insurance, etc...

With all that crap and salesmanship, its no wonder why MANY people complain about gunshows and prices.

I have a couple friends that sell at the Tanner show. Their prices are competitive with local stores, in some cases far better, and they still make some coin cause they go with a business model of selling quantity at a smaller profit margin. Using that model, it satisfies all parties

I realize this and never expect to find a that uber-cheap nugget. As Alxone stated, I go to check out the cool things and just hang out....

There are some guys who show up with the same overpriced stuff show after show. I've started mentally noting serial numbers to confirm my suspicion that they don't sell it.

Of course, the fact that the paper tag with description and price on the rifle shows almost as much age as the rifle is a clue ...

The vendors who were interested in making decent deals with me got my money. The one with 'tudes got a polite, "thanks" as I moved on to the next table. Sure, I only spent maybe $100, but times that by everyone else who likes a deal and buys VS all the lost sales, and I'm sure it made a difference.

Simple, when I go to the gun range I go there to shoot and practice. I'm not there to socialize. I don't want or need someone distracting me, breaking my flow, taking my focus away from what I'm there to do/practice.

IMO, the range is NOT the place to lose focus on what you are doing. Thats how accidents happen....

I don't go to socialize either. Range, set up targets get situated at the bench and shoot when range is hot. You can run in to people from here and others you may not have seen in a while. I've run in to clients of mine from years ago at shows. Just enough to bs, not enough (like someones house), to be overstaying your welcome.

My problem is I get verry closterphobic when I'm stuck in a crowd and I tend to get angry and just start plowing my way to the door so I can breathe. After reading the above, this is really convincing me to NOT go to the Tanner this coming weekend. If it's really that bad, I won't be making the 400+ mile round trip only to get trampled and squashed by the crowds of lookeylous, have my nostrils severely assaulted and then have to pay $8 for all that abuse. I would be pissed if I drove 400 miles for that freak show. I imagine it will be 10 times worse then ever because this will be the first show after the shooting in aurora so it will be a total shit show. as I said the only way to fix the tanner is make it bigger. Oh yeah, I am well aware of the Tanner being at Pueblo also as I have had a table there twice during THAT show's infancy. Was a good show both times however I felt the promoters/operators of the show had a whole lot to learn about diplomacy with their table holders. I believe the show has since "changed hands". Didn't sell an awful lot at Pueblo but did find quite a few bargains to be had.
Isn't the DENVER Tanner still taking up the entire show hall? If I remember correctly, they had advertised about 700 +/- tables which used to occupy the entire hall.

They only us the west side of the building. I went there during a C&R show witch maybe attracted 1/4 or less people and they had both sections open. There might even be a 3rd section on the east side of the building I'm not sure though could just be storage

Hi Bob,

There will be 700 tables-as always. It's been sold-out for weeks for vendors who are not regulars. If the last two week's shows in Loveland and Castle Rock are any indication....it's going to be standing room only. Which can be both good and bad. Lot's of sales....but not much time to talk to people at any length....and always the worry of thefts from the table.

Why do all of you have to go to a gun show? Private buying is way better. No taxes or government check. Cash is king and ignorance is bliss. Viewing my 8th collectin tomorrow for this year. Not much sleep tonight. Have a great day beating through the crowd at the Tanner. If you want a shot at a deal, meet the poor block at Taco Johns, and get away from the dealers. Thats my 2 cents. We also go to say hi to our pals and perhaps give Alex a smoke-break. I like the line "ignorance is bliss", which seems to me to say he doesn't care who he buys from or sells to. Wonderful example!

Admin will probably take post down because I hurt someones feelings. I'm sorry. Have them fill out a hurt feelings report!

I don't think the mods will take your post down because of hurt feelings. If they do decide to take it down, it will likely be because your post is very suggestive and bordering on soliciting criminal activity. Welcome to the forum, and stay out of trouble...

Is Tanner less busy in the late afternoon? I usually go in the morning but I'm not going to fight it today.

Good way to have some fun, antagonize the protestors on the way in and again on the way out.......[LOL]

Glad that I am not going. It is getting to be too much of a mess. I think that we need to start a gun show of our own somewhere. All laws apply of course, but I am getting tired of the circus that Tanner has become. If we could just find someone on here that was willing to host, and figure out a easy way to run background checks I would go every time if for no other reason than to meet up and look around. I am tired of dealing with the trash Tanner brings in. How hard would it be to legally set up our own show?

ya...it was a zoo today. 1000 rounds of 7.62x39 was up 40 or 50 bucks from the last time.
I wish I would have gotten to entertain myself with the protestors.

I think the liability issues are the most difficult to work thru. I'm sure someone much more knowledgeable on these things will weigh in.

Nope, not going to be me deleting it. I'd like it to remain as an example of potential set-up and solicitation to commit a felony.

Folks, learn what legally constitutes a "gun show" to ensure you stay on the correct side of the law.

Bigun - your tone towards the staff indicates you've got a problem with us. If this is the case you can PM me what the problem is and maybe we can resolve the problem. I'll warn you though, if you continue in this vane, you will not last long on this site.

What was the price of the ammo? Easy to get it for $239 or less online shipped.

Also what were the protestors protesting? My buddies who went today said they saw nothing indicating protestor activity.

Friends said they saw a lot of AR15 an AK being bought along with ammo. Even had one of my employees call me from the show asking about what AR to buy. I told her to hold off because I told her she may get ripped off at the show.

Personally I am ok with private sales, but suggesting to a seller at the tanner to move elsewhere during the show to advoid a background check is asking for trouble. Moderator thanks for interjecting.

I paid 269 plus tax for my 1 k today. I know I could have saved a little online ordering, wanted to pay cash for my transaction.

Very crowded. Almost all tables were dealers with high prices. Cannot "deal" with them. I did sell a few parts and ammo to individuals. I am going to stay away from Tanner, not that much fun.

I met up with a friend of mine there Sunday morning shortly after 8, so we were first in line. He had been there Saturday as well, and said it was a mad house, so to get back early. Sunday was no where near as bad from what he said... We got in and out by 10:45 and walked the whole place. I was not impressed with the prices all that much, but we're spoiled on this site with as many great members as we have, so I don't let their prices bother me much. I didn't even spend $100 including entry fee, but got a few fair deals on furniture for my latest build and a couple mags. I'll probably go a couple more times this year before the election just to people watch :)

Didn't get much interest here or on Armslist, so , had to go. Glad that I don't need to go back.

Going to gun shows every weekend, as I do, tends not be very fun. But like you said....tough to sell things sometimes online. It's a see-want-it-buy it-world.
