So I finally got a place to run and gun, went to my sisters b/f property out in Elizabeth. It's a huge lot there family owns about 2500 acres and was able to shoot my ar and transition to my secondary (which I suck at, not very smooth yet, and I don't reload to the rifle to great either) and back and fourth. Also the fam and I got to shoot clays, and four wheel around the massive property. He told me I could go out whenever just give him a heads up and said his uncle would like to shoot with my friends and I. I'm seriously considering doing some 3 gun maches or maybe some pistol courses now, but not before more practice. Just wanted to share how much fun I had with people that would apperciate it!!! Looking forward to more days like it. Got to say even my mom wasn't a bad shot which surprised the shit out of me!

That sounds like a lot of fun!!!

Practice, practice, practice. Before you know it it will be reflex.
I need to do a lot of practice due to being in a commie state.

When my father was still alive we went out shooting with mom many years ago and she surprised me at how well she shot. She just stated thats what you do when you grew up in the Warsaw Ghetto.

lex137,

Might want to check out USPSA or IDPA. It will give you a good start to the fun of running and gunning. Here is a link to the match schedule: MATCHES (http://www.ecouspsa.com/eco-new/schedule.htm#uspsa)
There is a fair amount of knowledge to be gained in the Shooting Sports and Events (http://www.ar-15.co/forums/forumdisplay.php?f=114) thread as well.

I was amazed how well my wife did when I took her out. @ 7 yards, fist sized hole where the magic T used to be. [Flower] That same day some cat was at the range with his Desert Eagle... same distance and he was barely able to keep it on paper... a little "flinchy" to say the least... and a HUGE confidence boost for her!

Have fun be safe!

No .22 conversions for my xd, yet??? Two shoes thanks for the like will definatly look into it. Haven't seen any ther but like I said the property is huge you have to cross a road to get to all of it and they have a few houses they rent on there as well. I'm glad I have the offer to go whenever, been keeping casing to reload and to keep it clean so I don't burn my bridge!!

I can tell you how many people say "I need to practice more before I go to a match. I am not good enough yet."

Those same people never make it to a match.

Your first match is the hardest and everyone had a first match. After that getting the guts to show up is easier.

Will have to make sure that I'm not just blowing smoke then. As long as they aren't above $80 to enter them then I'll be good.
