View Full Version : dish network.....
wow we moved and while i was asking direct tv for moving instructions i asked them to lower my bill back to the 120 per month we started at instead of the 150 per month its been for the last year and a half..... ronda in retentions wouldnt budge off 130 even though we have been customers for almost 5 years now so i canceled my account
im now getting every channel i was getting from direct tv plus some more....plus free sirus xm.....and there new receiver can record 6 channels at once all this for only 50 bucks for the next 12 months then i get bumped up to 70....
wanted to give the rural folks on here who are stuck with a satellite a heads up i dont work for dish network or anything like that
My mom has had Dish Network for years and swears by it. Everyone I've talked to says that Dish is better than Directv, most of them were DirecTV customers that made the switch to Dish Net and never looked back...[Beer]
No Sunday Ticket = No Dish for me :(

If DISH gave me free service, I wouldn't take it. Worked for 'em for almost ten years, and easily the most shady, terrible company I've ever dealt with...
That being said, they do have a good product, and they're more affordable that some of the other providers.
I'll keep my free DIRECTV though, hehe.
But, if I didn't have free TV, I wouldn't pay for TV at all; there's enough on Hulu, Netflix and online to keep me busy...

While I do like my Dish network I will give you a heads up if you have ever bought a second receiver for the camper or whatnot.
Years ago (2006) I bought a basic receiver from craigslist. Called them up and had it activated. Every year I would have it turned off for the winter.
A couple of years ago I did not turn it off for the winter. When I went to do it the next one they said I could not? They said that because it was there's that it had to stay on and I had to keep paying for it.
Even though they had no record of sending it to me and the gal could see where it had been turned off before but somewhere down the line......
And I was told that if I did not return it that they would bill me like $325 for it. In the end I just sent it back as I had no Receipt for it.
The current DVR we have had for 10 years. I now need to get another 311 from craigslist. Just a thought. [Rant1]

We cut cable completely recently (and no dish for us ... unless I want to cut down the trees in my yard and my neighbor's ... can't get line of sight to the satellites).
Bought a couple Roku boxes and now we pay $8/mo for Netflix and get the rest of our TV from various other Roku channels and with an antenna (all free).
Don't feed the beast.

$150/month?! Are you F'n kidding?! I pay <$45/month including taxes (not a promo rate either) for DISH and have no complaints with their service.

I get baja cable free and it sucks! I have been thinking about getting dish. But i dont uave home internet or phone so i dont know if it would work? Or if they would charge more? Baja cable is equivalent to off air antenna where i live. 50 channels of fuzz.

I would go back to Dish from Comcast but rumor has it that Dish is dropping AMC channels and I will NOT give up my Walking Dead, Hell on Wheels and Breaking Bad!
No Sunday Ticket = No Dish for me :(

i think dish and direct are pretty much equal (altho i prefer direct's interface better) BUT NFL sunday ticket makes direct a clear favorite for me

We have had DirectTV for the past 17+ years and have been satisfied other than having it blank out during some relatively mild rains. Direct TV is damn pricey too. Recently signed up for Netflix but had very unsatisfactory performance - watch a movie for about one or two minutes, the movie would then stall and have to load up again taking five or six minutes. Direct TV advised that this was normal and would occur during peak times like between 4PM and after 10PM due to so many subscribers using the Internet during those peak hours. We really wanted Netflix but can't go through that B.S. Oh well, we tried![Rant1]

Huh, I'm surprised there are so many pro-Dish Network folks on here. I ditched them 6 or 7 years ago because the service was totally shitty, continuous problems and the rates were going up too danm much. Went TV free for a few years then got DirecTV because I hated Dish so much. And DirecTV is great, but yeah it's pricey.
Maybe Dish changed for the better.

I did the same thing many years ago, Dishnetwork wouldn't budge on a couple simple things to keep me as a customer, so I dropped them and went to DirectTV. Goes both ways sometimes.
