Hi guys. I have two goals for joining the GSSF: 1) Getting a G34 at a great price and 2) looking into competition shooting.
As far as I can tell, if I join the GSSF, I can get a Glock at a reduced price and also compete, for one membership fee. Is that correct?
The purchase program indicates that you have to go through specific gun shops that accept the program. From what I can tell, Neve's is the only one in Colorado? Are there others that don't cater specifically to LEO and MIL, or will Neve's accept us ordinary "civillians"?
Finally, are there places to practice similar to the courses, rather than just shooting paper at the ol' range?
Thanks for the advice.
There's an additional charge to shoot a match on top pf the membership ($25 per class IIRC)
You must sign up for a multi-year membership to be eligible for the pistol discount in the forst year.
Neve's is the only LE dealer in CO, call to check they have the gun in stock before you go in. You may be able to find a LE dealer online that will ship a pistol to a FFL for you.
Correct. You have to join for at least 2 years to get the coupon with the welcome kit. Neve's in the Springs had a gen4 G34 for $480 last month, but you will need to call to check stock as bmmc said.

there are other shops througout colorado but you need to call GSSF to get the list. Frankly, Neve's has been the most reliable for me.
Also, even if a store is a GSSF vendor, you have to get the blue label gun throught the GSSF program, not a standard yellow (3 mags v. 2 mags, at least in the Gen3s). There was a store on the western slope that had what i wanted, but only in the yellow label and they said they couldn't do it.
If you're out that way, the Tradesman in Rifle is a GSSF dealer, too.

the monthly steel challenge competition at CRC is the closest thing I have seen to the GSSF shoot. SC and GSSF both have (almost) no movement. steel challenge incorperates a draw with every string (nonexistent in GSSF) and SC doesn't limit the amount of shots one can take or prevent reloading like GSSF.
I would say paper plates at the range is good practice as long as there are multiple targets and you are using a shot timer.
