So I seen a few threads on vw's an jeeps and so on. To me, nothing like a good fast sports car. Especially muscle cars! So let's see them

Nothing but sweet memories from my youth left of my '68 Chevelle SS396. Damn, I wish I still had it.....maybe it would even be pretty by now......

Loved that 68 SS
How'd you ever get it to hook and run 12's with those "skinnys" on it???
Must'a been the wire covers and the exhaust pipes at the rear tires:)

I think I borrowed some 12" slicks from a buddy, been a long tiime ago! I sure had a lot of fun in that old Chevelle......would be worth a fortune now. I was a real SS, not a Malibu with badges stuck on it. Didn't need to do that shit in '73, cars like this were plentiful and cheap, no need to fake 'em. We all had hotrods. Old Harleys were plentiful and cheap, as were Winchesters, Colt SAA's, M1911's, etc.
A buddy of mine bought a '68 Plymouth GTX for $1000 at a gas station, had a 426 Hemi in it and was one of those "factory race cars" that they made just for taking to the drag strip, didn't have any frills or extras, just horsepower and factory HP parts all over it like dual carbs, headers, dual-point ignition, heavy-duty trans and axle, all that stuff. It was a beast, but ate sparkplugs like crazy. That thing would be priceless now!

Nice rides! I too had some heavy Chevy's: 68 and a 69 SS (real deal). The 68 was the faster one with a Vette motor in it built to the hilt. I almost ponied up for a 'glass front-end which would've saved me a ton of weight and was quite popular at the time (early 80's).
The 69 SS was bone stock, canary yellow. Had a 69 Camaro SS for a while and a 56 Chevy too... Sorry, no digital pics of any of them.
Do they have to be 'our' cars.. or what we get to play with whenever we want?

http://i303.photobucket.com/albums/nn139/samoht517/trucks/DSC_0663.jpg
Reminds me of my first truck 93' f250 natural diesel. It was a turd but sure was pretty. At the time there were 3 power strokes and 1 duramax in my family.
What kind of times do you see on your Bowtie?
I've never taken it down the 1/4 mile, but I've got about 150 passes down the 1/8. The best it ever did was 7.93 @ 87 mph with a 1.80 60'. That should equate to about a 12.2ish in the 1/4 mile. That was also with an unfinished tune only at 12 psi (its at 15 psi now) and two independent 50 shots of nitrous. I am pretty confident that it would go mid 11's in the 1/4 with more tuning at sea level, but I dont race it much anymore. I might take it to Bandimere sometime this summer though (I have to stop buying guns and ammo first haha).
All in all, not too bad for a little V6 with a basically stock motor and junk yard turbo set up mated with spare nitrous parts. [Tooth]
turbo.... and nitrous
forget the times... have you hit the 200 mph barrier with that thing?
No, its never been up to 200 mph. The speed limiter has been removed via HP Tuners, but its tuned for 1/8 mile and 1/4 mile racing. I have my bike when I want to 150+ mph [Twist]

My RoadGlide is my passion, hell spent this whole week riding whenever I could. And yes, I bought it specifically because of the Black Cherry paint, my all time favorite color. Funny part is I sold it back in '09 to buy the 2009 CVO RoadGlide in Titanium/Stardust. I was one of the rare ones that didn't care for the new frame, ended up selling the 2009 and bought my Black Cherry bike back.
That's what's led me to finding my old Charger again. To answer the question on the engine, it was just a 383 4bbl. I knew it was a smooth reliable engine from another car I had so I installed it. Had big plans for the future, but the goal was to be a good reliable daily driver. Killed me when it left.
Thanks for the compliments.

Don't think for a second I didn't notice the MKIV in your Avatar. I've been waiting to see a pic or two of that! :)
Looking at getting a new car this year.
Right now I've narrowed it down to the Focus SE Hatch or a Dart Rallye. Any thoughts?
I sold my Porsche 911 a while back. I put over 300 miles on these Italian-made Vasque's last year....got less speeding tickets than I did with the 911 and had a lot more fun with them:

Yeah, the Dart has a better exterior, roomier interior. The Focus has better performance IMO, and a nice interior as well, but a bit more cozy.

Yeah, shopping list. The more I look at it, the uglier the body gets to me. The only thing it really had on the Dart was responsiveness and interior layout. The Mazda covers both, and looks better doing it.
The Ford is off the list now. But I'm still stuck between 3 choices...

+1 for the veloster Turbo!
FWIW - my 09 Mazda 3 with the 2.3 has been amazing! great gas mileage, and a fun car to drive.
The Dart is the only one there that is Turbo. The Mazda is a standard 3, and the Veloster is N/A.

The darts are nice looking though.
Why not a WRX?

Because I want to know that if someone has ripped a fart in the seat I'm in, that I'm the one who did it. Because I'm sick of finding soda pop syrup in/under the seats. Because when something breaks on it, I want it to be under warranty, and not a $1700 personal expense.

Lippy, that's a beautiful car. Do you drive it often? I've seen a few in Germany, including some amazing examples at the Mercedes museum in Germany, but you don't often see them on the road. Back when it was brand new in '08. It's got 117k now - i've been looking hard at trading it in for a Tacoma or something similar. Hard to justify though because 90% of the time this thing is great, and it's given me no problems. Replaced the rear shocks and front sway bar bushings myself - other than that it's been standard oil changes and the like. Plus it's damn fun to drive.

haha that's funny man. I think I mentioned it when we met for the AFG deal, that I wanted a tacoma like yours! I'd trade with you for a run up the canyon sometime if you'd like. Just hit me up.

I can't look at this thread anymore...it's just depressing. Having kids is not conducive to having toys like these. Wouldn't trade my kids for anything in the world...but it would be nice to have a 'stang sitting in the garage with a Bronco project sitting next to it.

My brother has been building this for almost a year now, and he just got it road certified today. Took the hood and doors off to run a few tests and do a few last minute things, but it will be totally done tomorrow and we're taking it to a track. :D

Sorry, I missed this post. It's an iTouring model, which is base for the hatch, but one trim level up for the sedan.

Ask your brother if he'd mind disclosing what his total investment in the build is please.

who's kit? From the pictures I can't tell, the exposed roll bar and cage in the door opening are confusing me a bit
I have a factory five myself (GETTING READY to sell it though, time for something else) Colorado is pretty "kit" friendly. emissions exempt forever, easy to register and insure

What do they cost to build is my question. I knew a guy in England with a Caterham (sp?) with a turbocharged Hayabusa motor in it. Stupid fast isn't the word.

I'll ask him.

The roll cage is custom, built by a local guy. Not sure who's kit it is. He's been working on it 4-6 hours a day for almost a year and paying a real gear head $25/hr to help him with all the technical stuff.
Ask your brother if he'd mind disclosing what his total investment in the build is please.
Mike, just to give you a ballpark....mine was put together with all new parts (non donor build) and if I added all the receipts together I'd be just short of $50k
here's the quick breakdown of major stuff
complete kit from factory five $19,000 (i think the kit is now $20K)
IRS suspension $2500
wheels/tires $2500
Paint and body $8,500
crate motor $10,000
Trans- $2500
Then there's the little stuff....Upgraded brakes/rotors/ upgraded leather seats/ rear end/gauges, electrical/ chrome, goodies, etc not counting tools I didn't have and basic shit and doesn't count the 400 labor hours into it
If I was to do it again, I'd save about $4000 on body/paint and use someone else, but the upgrades would easily eat the $4000 up
When it's all said and done, I have a car that's going on the market to maybe get $30,000
There are guys that recently have built complete for $20-25k. Those are guys that buy the base kit for $13k and buy a wrecked mustang and strip it for all the parts needed to transplant to their new chassis ...then do body/paint themselves -this adds labor time (rebuilding the used parts you had to take off something else)
And on the other side, there are guys with $100,000-150,000 into replicas too

He's got about $70k into it. We haven't gotten to drive it yet. When he started test driving it, something in the suspension broke. We're thinking that one of the chrome spring coils had a manufacturing problem, but it'll take at least a few days to order a new one. :(

Nice, id to get an original model A one of these days. I've never been one for restored cars, I'm way more into customs, there's just something I love about a mostly original looking model A.
