I'm from Texas, and my folks decided to moved to Fort Collins, CO. I don't know why anyone would want to move to that hell hold, I mean all that good beer and while water rafting. (if you hadn't figure out, I was joking. Besides all the dredlocks, seems like a nice town.)

Anyway, it appears my Texas CHL is good in CO, but I'd like a good list of laws. I have a real good handle Texas use of force laws and carry laws, but that isn't going to help me here.

Thanks

Chris

PS, you links in the sticky are broken.

You can't shoot someone unless they're in your house about to commit another crime, or unless they pose an immediate threat to you or another person. Force has to be equal, the amount of force needed to STOP the threat.

None of that cool, 'on your property' shit :(

Open carry is legal here.

Weapon in your car does not equal Texas. Loaded handguns are cool, but your switchblade, butterfly, rambo knife, loaded rifles, are not.

Avoid Denver city limits. They hate on 'high capacity magazines' as well as open carry

Here's a good reference to get you started.

If you're living here now, Welcome! If not, grab me some Whataburger and send it my way. :)
My dad and brother both live in the San Antonio area. My birthplace, in fact. Grew up in 'Bantucky' a few miles to your norhwest. [Beer]

Thanks. I'm in San Antonio, getting ready to move to Midland, TX. So, I get to enjoy the Whataburger, the breakfast tacos, and good TexMex/Salsa for at least the next few years.

Best reference I have found.

Also good:

http://www.usacarry.com/colorado_concealed_carry_permit_information.html

Also, familiarize yourself with Title 18 of the Colorado Revised Statutes, particularly 18-1-700 through 18-1-706 (use of force) and 18-12-2xx (Weapons and concealed carry)

Open carry is allowed in most parts of the state, except the City and County of Denver. Some local jurisdictions regulate open carry on city or county property (such as parks).

Biggest difference is that there are only 3 places your cannot CC:

1. Where prohibited by federal law (military bases and the like).
2. Inside a public K-12 school
3. Public building where everyone goes through metal detectors (think courthouses). In this case, they have to offer storage for your handgun.

Also, there's no 30.06 or 51% equivalents here.
