I'm currently trying to decide between adding the BCM EAG Upper (http://www.bravocompanyusa.com/BCM-EAG-14-5-BFH-Mid-Length-Upper-Receiver-LaRue-p/bcm-uh-eag1.htm) to my completed lower or dump the project and get a SCAR instead.

Anyone have any thoughts to sway my decision? It'll mostly be for punching paper but I'd like to take a few classes like the ones offered by Magpul or Haley Strategic.

I have one of the BMC EAG uppers that just arrived, fit and finish is superb as expected from BMC but I will not get to bust the cherry on it till next week. If you decide to go SCAR [good decision also] and decide to move the BCM lower assy I would be very interested in it.

The lower is actually a spikes with some magpul gear and a geissele two stage trigger so I could have a pretty great gun with a good upper, I'm just not sure what I want to do.

I don't know, easier to gets parts anywhere for the AR platform and way more options to dress it up and make it yours.

A SCAR is a nice gun, I personally want to get a SCAR 17 but the price is outrageous!

The cost of a SCAR is more than twice the price of you getting the BCM upper and keeping/putting on your lower. In fact you could build (2) ARs for the price of one SCAR.

Depends on how much fun money you have and in the long run what you want to do. I wish I could afford two of everything............... [Tooth]

Haha two of everything would be really nice.

I'm probably going to go with the upper and some ammo but man I REALLY want a SCAR.

longbow: let me know how that upper works out, I'm very interested to hear a review of it

F*ck the New Jersey Leprechaun. I love me some BCM stuff but Pat Rogers is a twit who should not get any of your money.

What is the super expensive SCAR going to do for you that a quality AR15 wont?

Think about not only the up front price of a SCAR, but also the true cost of ownership over its lifetime. Spare parts and maintenance are goign to cost far more in the long run than an AR15 will.

The BCM EAG is a great upper, but you could also get a BCM BFH Upper with an Aimpoint T1 and MOE HG for about the same price, just keep that in mind.

Care to shed some light on this now that youve insulted him in public?

I have trained with Haley, LAV, Lamb, TR, etc. etc. etc. and they were all much much better than the Leprechaun. I learned a hell of a lot more from them than I did when training w/ Pat. Everyone is different and everyone learns better from some than from others.

Just boils down to I don't enjoy his teaching style. I have no issues with being worked hard, being yelled at, or doing things the way the instructor wants -- but the Leprechaun is only out there to have people rub his ego.

Mike (his Assistant Instructor) is a much better instructor and all around better human being.

I found mine on Gunbroker at a very good price, the 14.5 BFH is also sale priced at Bravo Co right now. I am thinking about another one, they have 9 in stock.
