my boy loves to shoot. come to think of it, it would be cool to have a kids shooting day. i'm not sure how many of you guys have kids that shoot but think it could be fun. we could do something this sumer where its just the kids shooting with help of the parents of course. maybe we could get someone to do a kids saftey course right before. what do you think?

we have kids show up at the shoot, and they're always welcome

a dedicated one would be fun.

an 'official' training class? (speaking of which, where is the resident training guru? (oh Roger!) ???????

Oh I don't know about this idea. You mean we have to bring our guns, ammo and kids to shoot, and then we can't?

How about you just put a naked super model in front of a guy who's been married so long he no longer gets any? [roll]

Sounds just plain cruel to me.

i think it would be a great thing for the kids. i know when i take my son shooting sometimes i spend more time shooting and he does more watching. i think it could be something that they would remember for the rest of their lives.

on of the best times i have ever had with shooting sports did not involve me firing a shot and we only had BB guns. i had the honer of instructing 285 cub scouts on BB gun saftey at camp over the course of 4 days.

i think it would be cool for the kids to meet other kids into guns and learn more about different guns.

ofcourse us adults will have to demo a few things for them.

and of course, we need the participation of the guys with the 'fun' stuff

you know, the stuff that requires a stamp

I recommend a nice summer day where we can have cheesy brats and whatnot ;)

A spring/summer day sounds good to get the boy out to shoot a little.

all kidding aside, I think this would be a great idea, an investment, if you will in our kids.

how often will they get a chance to experince what we already know and enjoy? (granted, some already have this experince) If we show them that these things are fun and can be enjoyed responsibly, they'll probably tell their friends (or be better "armed" to handle some liberal anti type parrot child)

the political environment ain't getting better... we gotta 'fuel the fire' now, while we have a chance.

I propose an official 'kids only' day for sometime this summer. with everyones involvement, we can do pretty much a broad spectrum. From .22LR to FA and Silenced stuff. We can do things in stages so everyone gets a chance. We can make a day of it with a bbq or lunch.

We should get started on this right away.. if we want to do it this summer... you know how hard it is to plan the 2 day shoot we've been talking about for, what, 5 years now? [poke]

Does anyone want to volunteer to head this thing up?

How about we make one of our club shoots a kids shoot and let all the youngsters have a day?

That would make it simple and fun for everybody.

Sounds like a great idea the more kid envolvment the better. I have an 8 year old girl who likes to shoot. How far away are these ranges from Salida?

The closest would be the south shoot location just north of Woodland Park. That's about 100 miles from Salida to the range. A bit far, but not that bad. When I go to the north shoots it's about 120 miles for me and many of the north guys make the same trek to the south location.

But for you, I think the north shoots would be way too far. Maybe like 200 miles. Karl.

I just want to go shoot! I think the weather is killing me and my abilities. The reason this is important is my Step Son has become a better shot then I am maybe the weather is hampering his abilities too.........................not likely right!? However heck yeah lets do a kid shoot and for those with fun guns that are willing to let others children play I would be more then happy to help you out financially for the opportunity
