http://www.examiner.com/article/open-carry-deters-armed-robbery-kennesaw
There is some debate raging in Georgia about whether people should conceal their holstered handguns while in public. Some believe that wearing handguns openly will result in a loss of the element of surprise during a criminal attack, such as an armed robbery, while others believe that wearing handguns openly deters criminal attack. For Matt Brannan and J.P. Mitchell, who carry openly as a routine, the issue is no longer academic.

Sounds like the open carry people are gonna blow this thing up...
Oh well. Least everyone is ok and the baddies are in jail!
That story is terrifying.

you blinked...
Seriously.
at 11am (I am getting out of bed for work) on 1 may I got a phone call:
Them: "Your orders are in"
Me: "Sorry?"
Them: "you are going to Georgia"
Me: "So umm... when do I report?"
Long Pause
Them: "Monday"
so yeah... I now live in Smyrna GA.
It kills me because now that I am not driving 900 miles a week for work I can afford the bad-ass Sig Omicron is selling, but I am no longer a resident...

A good story and it worked in this case because they were robbers and not killers. If they were killers they would have made sure that the two gun carriers were ther first targets. With concealed carry, the CCWs would have had a random chance not to be first.
There are probably a lot more robberies than mass killings. Turned around, if they were CCWing, the robbery would have gone down, with multiple assailants with rifles barging in, that is not going to go well if those two went for their Springfield Mil-Spec Ninja .45s. Add in that the cop was coming in at the same. That's the making of a great Quentin Tarantino film scene.
great story
i can see it now "na officer we didnt do nuffin, we wuz wait fo dem dudes wit gats to leave " [lol]

Apologies, a bunch of us are, not we. Incorrect usage of words on my part.

Yhea, that was my first thought! :)

Sure sounds familiar.
Good story, but not exactly a new one. February 18, 2010. I like the way it ended though.

Kennesaw is right up the street
a bit rich for my blood though
What kind of morons rob a Waffle House? Seriously, they might have a couple hundred bucks. Split that 4 or 5 ways, and you have nothing...at the risk of long imprisonment or getting your happy ass shot...
Any time of the day at a Waffle House is dangerous. You pick up that menu at your own peril.
They didn't rob the Waffle House because the two customers, "were wearing holstered 1911 Springfield Mil-Spec .45 pistols." I'm reasonably certain that had those same two customers been open carrying some type of Glock, the robbery would have proceeded as planned. Personally, I'm glad these pistols were Mil-Spec. Nothing else will kill a bad guy with one bullet.
The article really didn't cover how Cobb County Police Officer D. Lowe apprehended the two cars full of armed robbers parked behind the Waffle House. I sure do hope Officer Lowe didn't violate anyone's civil rights or interfere with the civil liberties of anyone in these two cars. After all, they were just parked behind the Waffle House, and this is a free country [LOL]
Be safe.
