M4Carbine.net for actual guntalk, although the quality has, as of late, been waning.
Calguns.net for california gun law updates
bladeforums.com has a great dedicated outdoors section

And this site has probably the worst gun talk on the web, its either non existent or a bunch of goobers giving advice, so I come here for legal updates and to see new funny pics posted

Is it just me, or especially with reagrds to ARs, there isn't anything terribly new in the last 12 months that hasn't been hashed over ad infinitum already?

I've been a lot less gear oriented and more software oriented lately and so I care more about the competitions and training then the gear forums.

As to sites:
SigForum- there is always an active HK P7PSP thread going... ;)
rcgroups- another gear hobby- amazing what modern electronics allows us to do for not much smack
ihatethemedia.com- buddy just turned me on to them

I feel there is a lot of reinventing the wheel or a solution to a non-existant problem in the last 9-12 months.
Don't get me worng I love gear, but likeyou I have not seen anything that great

I used to be really into paintball in the late 90's and early 2000's. Mcarterbrown for stock class talk, automags.org for my AGD discussion, and specopspaintball for woodsball and scenario talk. I tried to get into PBnation but it had too many JM Ver 2.0 type of retards there for me to stomach. I dont know if any of you remember, but back in the day playpaintballcolorado.com was a great place to visit and get some games going, I was a moderator and then an admin until I left for the military a long time ago, and unfortunately site membership dwindled and eventually the site went away.

Jeepforum has been getting some of my attention lately as I prepare to buy another TJ after selling my 06 TJ last year. I would just like to find one central forum that has great technical info on firearms, training, and the outdoors, without all the JM VER 2.0 bullshit that we see.

There are other forums on the internet? :)

Seriously...m4carbine.net? I can't stand all the super-cool operator types talking ad nauseum about "the chart" and mil-spec this and mil-spec that.

They don't seem to understand the concept of civilian sport/recreational shooters who don't need a "mil-spec, battlefield proven system that will still function after it's been run over by an M1 Abrams, twice, and blown up by a squadron of B52s".

If I never see that site again it'll be too soon.

M4C is a boutique forum that caters to a certain "class" of shooters. Its a treasure trove of good info, but they do take it over the top sometimes. If you arent into that, then it wont be a good fit for you. Me personally, I enjoy that side of AR15s so I get along well there.

Yeah that's weird. One of those forums you have to request membership. Mainly they do it to keep spambots at bay. The site had a admin refuckulation recently so lots of changes came along with that I suppose.

You are more than welcome to help rebuild that section if you want. At one point, a few years back, it could have riveled anything on the net. But, with a couple of meltdowns like the one we just had, Most of the referance material has been lost.

I'd be more than happy with any and all help in getting that back to where it once was.

I got rid of my Bushmaster and bought my DD based on 'the chart'.

Amazingly enough, I saw 4 of the guns on the 'wrong' side of 'the chart' melt down and just fall apart. One of them was during a pueblo tactical rifle shoot.

I wholeheartedly agree that M4C is a different world. I just like to go out and shoot. I don't want to win the war all by myself. That being said, I do a lot of reading over there, and not a whole lot of posting. Heck, I don't even do a lot of posting here!

For gun forums...
Sigforum is pretty cool, rather relaxed with good conversations like here.
S&W forum is very strict, only S&W related conversations basically.
Rugerforum annoys me because it seems liberals all own rugers and hang out there, it's a constant political pissing match which gets old.
TheHighRoad I like too.

Non gun related... slashdot and other computer/IT related sites. Google Reader, where I have about 150 various blog/news sites in my feeds. Zombie Squad occasionally.

What?! Nobody goes to ak-47.net? Anyone remember or was involved in the great forum wars that more or less ended about 6 years ago? Campybob, HDR, Chief Thunder and the krinks, Bowhunt, the golden years of ak variants and homebuilds. Almost makes me nostalgic. I wasn't too involved, just had a lot of fun checking in on the drama and watching grown men act like teenage girls. Gary Gucciano aka "the gooch", K-Var, Todd Bailley of Special Weapons-Bobcat-Black Market Arms-Coharie, Vulcan Arms-Hesse-Blackthorne, Joe-ken, and other assorted characters. Those where the days.

I miss the 69$per k ammo and cheap kits tho.
