Taking care of the honney do list this morning and while mowing the yard, I see that there is yet again another plume of smoke rising West of Fort Collins. This one is further South of the other two fires so I'm pretty sure that it's a new one.

Hope it gets shut down pretty quick!

We've had some serious wildfires down here in NM already. One is over 270k acres and is the largest wildfire in recorded NM history. It was started by lightning back in the middle of May. It sent lots of smoke my way and made going outside very painful.

A new one just started this last Monday from lightning and its already over 10k acres. This one is only 30-40mi away from me (its just outside of Ruidoso) and we can see the smoke billowing up as well as the actual fire on the mountain at night.

Sad thing is, this isn't even wildfire season yet, going to be a horrible season later this summer though! :(

The smoke from this fire is pretty impressive. I first saw it heading into Estes from the south and then in my rear view mirror on the way to Greeley. It's definitely going to be a bad year for fires.

I guess it jumped from a couple hundred acres to over 5,000 in a flash. As an comparison the previous fire last week took over a week to get to the same numbers. This on is pretty scary right now as they haven't even been able to stage properly to plan an attack. Every time they get to a location to stage the fire is already upon them. Some very scary situations happening today with our own Sheriff and other deputies attempting to evacuate residents safely and my hats off to those who keep our communities safe. There really are some great men out there saving lives. Here's to hoping everyone stays safe and they get things under control sooner than later.

Some incredible footage from overnight. 8K-10K acres estimated and usually a fire lays down overnight.
This one has not. An interview with a resident said the entire area is strife with beetle kill. That stuff burns hot and fast.
Video looks like a firestorm.

One of board members here and arfcom was doing communication work there yesterday.
A woman we know evac'ed her horses last night and staying with some other friends down the block.
This is insane with the dry, windy conditions. They have evacuated bellvue and we are trying to get in touch with some other friends who live in the area.

This fire is all over the place. Wind and dry weather are not helping. This is part of an e-m we received a while ago. I Think if all the residents who have evacuated could reach out to friends and family this it might read like this.

PLEASE DO NOT COPY & PASTE IT TO ANY OTHER WEB SITE, at my request. people DESERVE SOME PRIVACY

Thank you ALL for your thoughts and prayers. I'm sitting in a coffee shop right now, tears streaking for all the love and support that I feel, and a tad bit of fear sneaking in as we breathe the smoke and watch the ash fall from the sky. The kids are safe, we are safe

Are you evacuated due to this fire? Have you suffered a loss from this?

If either of those is YES, please tell us how we can help you!

No luckily not us. I received an e-mail from a friend in our prayer group and took a brief passage from it and put it in italics. Thanks for your concern. Her whole e-mail is very moving but want to respect their privacy. AND we all know something posted on the web has a habit of going global.

I know last night the smoke was horrible in Ault. Their are a lot of good people up there fighting this thing, hope they get it under control and everyone is safe so they can get a cold beer soon!

Just came back from the WC range (note to self, make sure mags & ammo go with you[Bang])
Anyway. The fire looks like it's getting ready to jump the ridge line. Very dense heavy smoke on top and the east side of hill. Nothing like smoke drifting skywards just creeping over the hill.
Again this is insane, windy, extremely dry and no rain in sight.

From what the rangers said it was in Lory yesterday. My nephew works at the north ramp at horestooth and they told him not to come in today. Yesterday his boat ramp was closed and all he did was stop traffic.

Said it sounded like a jet engine coming through the trees, so he dropped the trailer and get the hell out of dodge!!!

Thats actually not the fire that was really close to him. When he turns the camera and says "Well thats it for the cabin" is the direction of his property and he said a different fire was coming over the ridge onto his property.

Still has no idea if the cabin is lost.

Said it scared the shit out of him and he is not one to be scared to often. Trust me!!
