If these make it through, there will be ever increasing and more onerous legislation. They are probing our defenses, make no doubt about it!!!

Email from CSSA: LEGISLATIVE ALERT!

HB1278 (sponsored by anti-gun Rep. Joel Judd, D-5), which would allow cities to ban unlicensed concealed carry in automobiles, has been introduced and will soon be heard by the House Judiciary Committee. For decades, Colorado citizens have been able to defend themselves by carrying a concealed handgun in their automobiles without a permit for self-defense. This law was upheld by the Denver District Court when the City of Denver challenged it in 2004. This is classic gun-control legislation—it does nothing to prevent crime and strips law-abiding citizens of their right to defend themselves and their families. Please call/write/email your state legislator and urge him/her to oppose this bill. And you should call the chair and co-chair of the House Judiciary Committee, Reps. Terrance (303-866-2909) and Morgan (303-866-2942) Carroll regardless of your district and urge them to oppose this gun-control legislation that strips us of our right to self-defense.

SB109 (sponsored by anti-gun Sen. Ron Tupa, D31)), which would mandate a tax for firearm purchase background checks, has also been introduced and will soon be heard by the Senate Judiciary Committee. For years anti-gun legislators have been trying to welsh on the promise they made when Colorado background checks were moved from the National Instant Check System (which costs the state nothing) to the Colorado Bureau of Investigation (which costs the state millions). At that time, legislators promised that funding for CBI checks would be borne by the state and that no tax would be charged to purchasers to pay for background checks. Any fee charged by the state on firearms purchasers is a TAX ON GUN OWNERS AND GUN PURCHASERS and no government should impose a tax on a Constitutional right--EVER! Especially when this cost is so unnecessary. Please call/write/email your state senator and the members of the Senate Judiciary Committee and tell them to oppose this unfair and unconstitutional tax on Colorado gun owners. Judiciary Committee members are:

Brandon Shaffer (D-17) 303-866-5291
John Morse (D-11) 303-866-6364
Bob Bacon (D-14) 303-866-4841
Betty Boyd (D-21) 303-866-4857
Shawn Mitchell (R-23) 303-866-4876
Steve Ward (R-26) 303-866-4846
Scott Renfroe (R-13) 303-866-4451

I had no doubt this would happen. Ritter is just waiting to put his signature on as much liberal BS as he can.
