Match courtesy question.

I don't know if this is stupid or not, but I purposely move from position to position on a stage, slower than I want to, as a courtesy to the range officers who have to follow me around.

Does anyone else do this, and is this something I should be doing. I figure that these guys have to follow 25 guys through a stage, and each guy does it differently than everyone else. Also, I don't want to sprint off on them and have them trying to keep up with me outside of their comfort zone.

Does anyone else do this? Can I start moving at full speed?

That is the point of the game, to move and shoot the fastest of all the other folks. Better times and more hits wins

Also, "BEEP" starts with "B".

If you feel you need to give a courtesy warning, that's good, too. Also a good way to make sure you don't run into a timer.

My movement and speed is dictated by my comfort zone and not by the RO. I will not compromise my muzzle and finger awareness in search of faster stage times. My movement from position to position is probably 50 to 60 percent of my all out speed.
When I shoot a stage the only time the RO is in my peripheral vision is at the LMR and USC command. If the RO is within my peripheral vision then I will slow my speed down just to be safe.

I agree 100%. It's a race, why would you walk?

If your into this for the "practical" purpose then it's a fight for your life, why would you walk?

If your just out there to shoot and have a little fun without a care as to where you place in the results, then it just doesn't really matter I guess.

I have to say that one time last year I sprinted across the berm and missed an entire section of the stage in the process, and my guy seemed to keep up with me. You get great times when you accidentally sprint past half the targets.

I appreciate shooters who go slow in the name of safety, but I don't think its necessary to take it easy on the ROs. They know where the shooter is headed, and I've not been able to shake one off my tail no matter how fast I think I'm moving between positions. Make time on the move so you can take time to get good hits.

Don't worry about us ROs. It's our job to keep up and stay on you like an ex girlfriend looking to drop a rabbit in your stew pot. After the first stage we know who is a sprinter and who is tactically moving around.

The only time it matters is if you intend to run backwards and in a general direction of towards us, a little warning when we ask "DOES THE SHOOTER UNDERSTAND THE COURSE OF FIRE?" would be appreciated.

I agree with sticks. I have had either the senior SO tell me this guy will be fast or sometimes the shooter, who knows he is fast, will indicate his route, especially if different from everyone before him. It is appreciated, but I have found that only when a shooter moves backwards during a course of fire is it a problem for me. If I know he is fast - I get ahead start :)

The main thing I'm worried about as an SO are lefties and having to haul butt backwards. I think last club match I wound up making an impromptu table-roll on one of the stages.
