About 4 this morning I am getting ready to head to work go out and open the garage loading my stuff. I am half inside the vehicle and this truck rolls up and stops in from of my house. I find this odd so I reach in the vehicle for my weapon and have it on the seat. I stand up and they must have finally noticed I was in the garage and take off.

I wait a minute go tell the wife to watch out and make sure she keeps the garage closed. Go to my vehicle and head to work. I did a loop in my block to just see if they are still around and make sure they aren't breaking in somewhere. Don't see them so I head out ti the main road.
sure enough there they are heading down the street and pull into the next neighbood down the street so I immediately call the police and give then the full description location etc. Haven't heard anything but I am positive these guys are looking for open garage doors for an easy snag of whatever they can steal.

Anyways, make sure you watch out and keep your garage doors closed at night!

One of my biggest fears. If we didn't use the damn garage as our main entry, I'd keep a padlock in the door track.

Damn! What a way to start the week. You should of hid in the corner of the garage to see if they would of tried coming in and then get the drop on them. Hopefully the cops at least check them out incase. You never know what people are up to anymore.

If an altercation happened where shots were fired S7 might be in jail as he lay in wait vs, flight. Bad advice adawg, an attorney would have a field day with you in court.

Hey now I wasn't telling him to let them come into the garage and jump out shooting. Simply see if they got out and started walking to the garage and then come out and say "can I help you?" Trying to get proof they were doing what he thought and if they were they would of taken off. Like they did when he got out of the car. Shit sorry I wasn't more specific and my reply sounded differently. It was more talking then anything.

Well, regardless of who should shoot who, Sniper I'm glad that nothing happened to provoke that. No matter how much it might be nice to fantasize about blowing away scumbags, no firefight is a good firefight really.

I see people all the time leave their garage doors open all day and sometimes all night, when I see them open after 10 and nobody in the garage I try to knock on their door and let them know (in my neighborhood this is). Fortunately my house tells me when mine is either open for more than an hour and/or it closes it automatically after 8pm unless I tell it otherwise.

I have a motion detector on my alarm for the garage for just this possible reason. It is setup as an entry sensor, so if I am home and the door is open, it still beeps in trigger like a door was opened.

Yup, that is the strategy :D. If they think I'm batsh*t crazy they will think twice about it. [M2]

Actually I have automated the crap out of my house, you probably wouldn't believe the stuff my house does! Guys love it, women are afraid of it!

I am super paranoid about keeping the garage door closed. I have plenty of tools and R/C cars visible in there that would be sorely tempting to thief. My wife used to sort of protest that we live in a good neighborhood and people aren't likely to steal some Craftsman wrenches out of the garage. People are very likely to steal out of a "good" neighborhood - where better to steal from?

I get so worked up that I sometimes will even close the garage door even if I'm just in the backyard doing yard work.

Hey Sniper you know where I live man, I leave early every day if you want I could do a quick sweep of your area. Also if you wanna share the discription, I have noticed a few irregularity's when I have left for work over the last couple weeks and would like to do a compare.

Good awareness on your part and good work taking quick action. Unless I am in the garage I have to close it. Even if I am in it I usually close it because I have had shit birds come up and start asking me BS questions while looking around the garage at my toys.

I started keeping the garage about 2/3's closed if I am working in there after the same type of shit bird encounters. Open carry does help them scurry off.

My 'hood is a little weird for having a happy team of neighbors cover for each other. I wouldn't sleep on my stomach with them "watching my back"...

Stepside pickup with a nike swoosh?

can't be for sure. it was still dark. It is possible it was a stepside but I'm not 100%. and I didn't pay attention if there was a swoosh on it. I am sure I would recognize it if I saw it again.

I learned the garage door lesson the hard way. It cost me my GPS outta my wife's car. I live in a "nice" area too. Stupid punks. I'm just thankful it was only a GPS and they decided not to enter our house. Now I always make sure its closed unless I am outside. Its a shame it has to be like that these days.
